Hospice Schedules Grief

Support Group
Many people struggle with the long gray days of winter, but
for those dealing with grief, those days can seem even darker.
State of the Heart Hospice has scheduled adult grief support group
sessions beginning Wednesday, Feb. 19, for anyone who needs
help dealing with grief and loss.
Meetings will be held each Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 pm. at
the Greenville office, 1350 N. Broadway. The sessions, which are
FREE, will continue each Wednesday evening through March 26.
It is not necessary to have experienced hospice services.
Adult grief support groups offer those experiencing grief to
be with other people who feel as they do, stated Terri WehrleyPyles, a licensed social worker who is part of the State of the Heart
bereavement staff. People have the opportunity to talk about
their grief and feelings of loss. They realize they are not the only
ones feeling as they do.
Bereavement support is an important service provided by State
of the Heart Hospice. The non-profit agency offers grief support
to adults and children. State of the Heart also offers a summer
camp for children who are grieving called Camp BEARable. Assisting Wehrley-Pyles in the growing through grief groups will be
Brittany Scheer, a board certified music therapist who is part of
the State of the Heart bereavement services staff.
Each person handles grief in their own way, Wehrley-Pyles
explained. Those who have attended grief support groups in the
past say they have found the sessions to be helpful and valuable
to them. Many of those who have attended have formed friendships and now have someone they can call who understands their
feelings of grief and loss.
State of the Heart has offices in Greenville, Coldwater, and
Portland. The agency cares for families and patients in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life limiting illness.
It is necessary to register for the grief support groups. Call 1-800417-7535 and ask to speak to a member of the bereavement staff
to register. For more information about the services offered by
State of the Heart, visit the web site at www.stateoftheheartcare.org.

Dr. Trevino, MD, Joins Covington Family Care

Darke County Native Excited to Return to His Roots of Primary Care

Miami Valley Centre Mall, Piqua

937-773-0950 937-726-3488
Monday-Saturday 10-9, Sunday 12-6

Dr. Guillermo (Bill) Trevino, MD, is joining Covington Family Care

in Covington, bringing him back close to his hometown of Bradford.
Dr. Trevino said his new position as a primary care physician at the
Upper Valley Professional Corporation practice will enable him to get
back to outpatient medicine where he can establish long-term relationships and play an integral part in preventive medicine.
I am going back to the roots of why I became a doctor in the first
place and that was to establish relationships with people and to do preventive medicine in an effort to keep people out of the hospital and
healthy, Dr. Trevino said.
A Bradford native, Dr. Trevino graduated from Wright State University
and earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College
of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Mount
Carmel Health System in Columbus. He practiced in hospitalist medicine
at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney, and most recently was director of
the hospitalist program at Wayne Healthcare, Greenville.
Dr. Trevino said his work as a hospitalist has given him a new perspective on preventive care and will
direct the way he cares for his patients. As a hospitalist, there were a lot of things I saw that could have
been avoided if they had the proper primary care experience, he said.
Dr. Trevino said although he and his wife, Patches, spent nearly a decade in Columbus, their hearts always remained tied to their hometown area. He said he enjoys practicing in a small community and believes
one of his strengths is his ability to be personable and real with patients and the enjoyment he finds in seeing
patients outside of the office.
Dr. Trevino and Patches have five sons ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years. He finds that much
of his community involvement revolves around his family, as he often is found coaching one or more of his
sons athletic teams. The family also is very active in their local church.
Dr. Trevino is accepting new patients at his office, which is located at 2600 Mote Drive, Covington, or
by calling (937) 473-3025.

Insurance Companies Announce Merger

by Gary Godfrey

Divine Protection
The story youre about to read is true. The names have remained the same to insure accuracy.
It was one of those Florida evenings that seemed too good to let it go without trying our luck at
one of our favorite fishing holes.
Jerry Bazill and I have been friends for many years. He used to live behind me one Irvington Avenue in Bradford. So, it was only appropriate to ask my Florida neighbor to go with me.
It was about 2:00 pm, and we had to stop for minnows, before heading to Lake Arbuckle. The
lake is located about 15 minutes from our home base at Clinch Lake.
After testing my boat motor (made sure it started) we launched and were on our way by 3:00
pm. It was agreed to drift fish in open water to see if we could pick up some crappies. Not only
did we drift, but we also tried the Lilly pads to no avail. In fact, we caught just one crappie the
entire time.
We better head in to shore, Jerry said before the sun goes down.
Thats a good idea, I confessed.
The boat was out of the water and loaded before dark, as we headed back to base camp.
One thing about fishing, when the fish are not biting-its fun to talk and reminisce about the
good ol days.
Everything was going just fine, until I heard Jerrys cell phone ring.
As he was answering the call, I noticed a semi-truck coming our way. I heard his horn blast, but
thought he was honking at a friends house as he drove by. As the truck drew closer and closer, I
immediately noticed the concrete bridge coming up, besides the semi-tractor and trailer. By now
it looked like he was traveling about 50 to 60 mph. The speed zone is 45 mph. And suddenly it
happened, my car with boat in tow, and the semi-truck arrived at the bridge at the same time.
All I could do is keep my eyes on the semi-tractor and try to avoid a head on collision. Jerry is
now looking up and yells something like, Holy Crap!
At this point all I could imagine is the worst possible scenario, and it was all bad!!
It was just a matter of seconds, and we passed just like we would have on a normal road. Nothing, zilch, nada, happened.

February Happenings at Milton-Union Public Library

I dont know what just happened, but God and his angels were with us tonight, I told Jerry
without a doubt.

560 S. Main St., West Milton & 937-698-5515

You can say that again, Jerry replied slowly. When I looked up you were in the grass of the
road, and all I could see was the truck and the bridge.
I think everyone can tell a story, when something bad should have happened, but didnt. This incident has reinforced my faith and the fact that God is always in control.
This week bottom line: Luke 4:11
they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
That night, neither Jerry nor I could sleep. When I closed my eyes, all I could see is the semitractor approaching the bridge. Thank you God for your divine protection.

Two of Miami Countys oldest independent insurance agencies

merged together effective January 1. Koverman-Dickerson Insurance
of Troy, Piqua, and Covington, and Reed-Mote-Staley Insurance of
Piqua merged to become Koverman-Staley-Dickerson Insurance.
The Koverman-Dickerson Insurance Agency dates back to 1874
and was founded by George R. McConnell. The agency was in the McConnell family for three generations. Bob Koverman purchased the

joined the agency in 1997. As of this merger, Joe Dickerson was the
sole owner of the agency.
The Reed-Mote-Staley Insurance Agency traces its roots back more
than 135 years. The Stelzer Agency was formed in 1875 by George
Stelzer, grandfather of Robert and William Reed. The Miles Agency
was begun in 1902 by James Miles, grandfather of Thomas Mote. In
Joe Dickerson
1963, Charles Staley purchased the Zimmerlin Agency from Ralph
Zimmerlin and formed Staley-Zimmerlin. Reed-Mote-Staley came into
existence in 1980 with Robert Reed, William Reed, Thomas Mote, and
Charles Staley as partners. Steve Staley began his insurance career in
1978 and became a partner with RMS in 1983 and Fred Wright became
a partner in 1984. As of this merger, Steve Staley was the sole owner of
Reed-Mote-Staley Insurance.
Steven Staley is a Piqua Central High School and College of Wooster
graduate with a B.A. in Business Economics. He has earned his CPCU
designation. Steven lives in Piqua with his wife Gail and has two grown
children. Steven has been very involved in the Piqua community.
Joe Dickerson is a Troy High School and University of Cincinnati
graduate with a B.S. in Accounting. Joe worked for The Cincinnati Insurance Company as a commercial underwriter before he joined The
Koverman Agency. Joe lives in Troy with his wife Tonya and sons Robbie and Tommy.

Steve Staley
agency, providing personal, commercial, life, and health insurance. The
agency represents ten quality insurance companies, allowing the staff of 23 employees to provide customers with competitive pricing and the best service available.

Association we belong to has purchased the above classifieds. Determining the value of their service or
product is advised by this publication.
In order to avoid misunderstandings,
some advertisers do not offer employment but rather supply the readers
with manuals, directories and other

establish mail order selling and other
businesses at home. Under NO circumstance should you send any
money in advance or give the client
your checking, license ID, or credit
card numbers. Also beware of ads that
claim to guarantee loans regardless of
credit and note that if a credit repair

phone it is illegal to request any money
before delivering its service. All funds
are based in US dollars. Toll free numbers may or may not reach Canada.
