Skeletal Muscular
The Skeletal System helps
move , protect and
support our body.
Muscles provide
strength, balance
posture ,
movement and
heat for the body
to keep warm.
Divisions of Skeletal System

It Is part of your
skeleton that is
adapted to allow
the body to move
your arms and
legs.
Muscular System
• The main job of the
Muscular system is to
provide movement to the
body. The muscular system
has three different types of
muscle :Skeletal, Cardiac,
And Smooth. Each Muscle
has the ability to contract,
which then allows the
muscles to move around.
Muscle Contraction
• Muscle filaments act like players in in a game
of tug-of-war game
• Actin filaments are pulled by fibers called
myosin and cause a muscle to contact
• In order for muscles to contract, the
neurotransmitter acetylcholine must be
released, which in turn releases calcium to
activate myosin to grab actin
Skeletal System

• The Skeletal System

serves many
important functions; it
provides the shape
and form for our
bodies in addition to
supporting,
protecting, allowing
bodily movement,
producing blood for
the body, and storing
minerals.
5 Types of Joints

• Gliding: gives flexibility to wrist and ankle

• Pivot: allows neck to turn left or right
• Ball and socket: allows movement in shoulder
and hip
• Saddle: allows movement in bones in fingers
• Hinge: allows bones in knee and elbow to
move toward or away from each other
Muscular System
We have more than 600 muscles in our body.
They do everything from pumping blood
throughout our body to helping you lift your
heavy backpack. We control some of our muscles,
while others, like our heart, do their jobs without
us thinking about them at all.
Skeletal System

• When we are
born we have
over 300 bones.
As we grow
older, some of
these bones
begin to fuse
together. This
results to adults
only having 206
bones.
