The victim said she was approached by 4-5 teenage males who pulled her behind a shed and assaulted her. Police searched the area and arrested two teenage suspects matching the description.     APPROVED: Captain Jeffrey Hertel FOR RELEASE: April 27, 2012 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION: Captain Jeffrey Hertel Phone: 456-3499 Fax: 456-4490 12-037355 CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATED On Thursday, April 27, 2012, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Grand Rapids Police responded to an address on Oak Park Dr. SE, on the report of a sexual assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim of the assault. The victim told police she had been walking on Oak Park Dr. SE, when she was approached by 4-5 males that were in their teens. The suspects briefly talked to the victim and then proceeded to pull the victim behind a shed. The victim was then sexually assaulted. The victim was released by the suspects, proceeded home, and called police. Officers searched the area for the suspects and located a group of teens matching the description in the area of the 4100 block of Norman Dr. SE. Two of the six individuals were arrested for the assault. All six individuals were in their early teens. The two suspects arrested were taken to Kent County Juvenile Detention. The Family Service Team continues to investigate this assault. Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call police at 456-3604 or Silent Observer at 774-2345.
