Bonje BSCE 2C Solid Waste Management At Home I started doing this work at home last 3 days, and it took me 2 and half days to finish doing it. On the first day, I started cleaning our roof that was full of leaves or agricultural wastes. Then, I collected them all and placed in an open area beneath our tree to set them on fire or haling instead of throwing it anywhere. Then, I collected all recyclable materials such as bottles, cans, and scrap metals. Before I end my work for that day, I placed our trash near our gate to be collected by garbage collectors at night. I continued collecting such materials on the next day. And on that day, my collection was doubled than the previous day. I also cleaned outside our house and segregated different solid wastes that scattered around. Then I continued to collect again recyclable materials inside our house, especially in the kitchen. Afterwards, I get water containers to be re-used by refilling it to the water station nearby. And for the last time, I collected bottles again at the backyard on the last day. I started to pile up all recyclable materials I collected from the start to put them all inside the car. Those solid wastes will be sold to junkshops and buy-back centers by my mother. And that would end my Solid Waste Management at home. Things I Learned from It After I did this work last 3 days, I learned many things from that experience. Of course, I really knew that doing it was a big help to my family. From what I did, our home is now a safe place to live in. Also, I learned that not all solid wastes are disposed altogether. They should be segregated and some of it will be recycled. On the other hand, I realized how important Solid Waste management is, especially at home. Because without it, it would probably cause another problem to the community. I learned also that it also lessen our things at home which resulted to a cleaner, and more attractive home, inside and out, than before. Lastly, it trained me how to be organized, tactful, and responsible enough. Thus, I learned to build my character because of it.
