Theory: The speed of the DC motors changes with the load torque. To maintain the constant speed, the armature voltage should be varied continuously by varying the delay angle in ac-ac converters are duty cycle of dc-dc converters. Since the steady state accuracy is not satisfied in the open loop system the drive is operated in closed loop system. The closed loop control system has the advantages of improved accuracy, fast dynamic response and reduced effect of load disturbance, protection and system non-linearity.
