Discover Egypt Camp 1

This theme helps children and youth to discover Egypt with new point of views. From the important that sessions will focus on is Egypt boarders, Egypt diversities, cities, citizens and history. The aim of these sessions that children will understand their history and they know where they stand now; after that they can go to better future. Session No. Session 1 Egypt Map 10 min: talking about what is Egypt and how they see it.. (Listen to their opinion and give them the space to talk about their point of views, even if their opinions can be funny sometimes) important to help 10 min: talking about what is Egypt and how they see it.. Session 2 Egypt Cities Materials Photos, short film imagine more what is the big Egypt for them, not only their home. What was this period in Egypt history, why this period was famous, what where the Egyptian clothing during this period, how did it change from this period. Through giving the children example about Egyptian history characters or hero.. The children can learn that thinking about hero dont have to be from another countries but also can be from Egyptian History. Through photos and different stories, children will know what first school and mosque was in Cairo, What was the time in history when we were the pioneers in economic and education, comparison to other countries from Middle East. 20 mins: fun exercise if they want to live in past period.. which period will be and how they will live. (a small theatre scene)

Session 3 Egypt History Materials Photos + Cartoon Film

25 mins: let them see part of film Prince of Egypt as film present part of history in Egypt. 5 mins: talk with them about that this period was in Egypt pharonic period, focus more on what people wear and decor around them and how they live. Session 4 Egypt History Materials Photos + ideas for different historical periods

Session 5 Egyptians citizens Materials Photos + short films + Diversity Citizens ideas for play

Show examples for Business man, taxi driver, engineer, fisherman, villager..etc 20 mins: Show them short movies about different Egyptian citizens diversity. 20 mins: in different groups, each group will choose a different citizen role and will make a small play about for 5 mins. 20 mins: remind them of last session, show them photos from last sessions and let them say what they did learn from these photos. 25 mins: With papers, colors and photos collage. Children will make their artistic board about Egypt through their eyes. Choose one history or present

20 mins: remind the children of what was in last sessions, show them photos.. build a positive competition between them to see who is the winner and who still remember the last sessions 20 mins: Give them white papers and Egypt photos to draw it again or color empty Egypt photos.

20 mins: Children will present their photos and talk about what they draw or their point of views. This will 15 mins: each group will present his artistic board and help them to talk openly and that they learn to listen will talk about it. This will help them how to present their friends. themselves and their ideas in the future.

After discovering Egypt diversity and history, this camp Egypt and the future will focus on how we see our present and where we go in the future. The main aim of this camp is to give the children a positive opinion and general view about Egypt industry, business and future in all. Session No. Session 1 Modern Cairo urban and heritage Materials Age 4-7 Age 8-11 Age 12-15 15 mins: Thinking about Modern Egypt, Cairo where we live now.. is important for the children to understand. This will help them to keep their heritage. This session will be like flash back session with a fun way. Help them to remember what their parents always say about places in the past like Heliopolis, Zamalek and Downtown. 30 mins: Show them about short films about this period and how it was and where it is now.

Better Future Summer Camp 2012 15 mins: show them posters photos of old films (like Ismail Yassin, Anwar Wagdy, Foad el Mohandess..etc) and discuss with them and listen to them what they feel if they see old movie.. do they like it or they feel they are more into new films? Let them think, if they were an actor or living during this period how they will live and what style of life will be?

Session 2 Green Day Materials Photos + colors + colored papers

15 mins: talk with them about what is green day.. Where they see green spaces around them. How we should treat these green spaces.

15 mins: what is green space and where they live it around them.. Listen to their opinion.. Brain storm with them. 25 mins: Show them photos and open talk with them about green urban, cities and places in Egypt (Azhar park, sekem farm, Delta farms.. etc) show them the difference between these places

15 mins: Show them photos of different trees genres in Egypt 20 mins: Let them make a play, choose between different kinds of (Palm, cactus, banana trees, Egyptian trees and make a small play about it with them group. mango trees..etc) Choose a group winner end of session. 30 mins: give them colors and colored papers to color flowers, trees. 10 mins: talk with children about 15 mins: introduction and brain storm with children about what is what is science.. what we need to science for them and what is science in Egypt? Do you know remember do to be doctor or scientist in the any science person who made a positive input in Egypt future. Every group will see through the microscope different element important for us. and will try to explain his observations to his colleagues. From YDC past sessions 3 sessions: Talking about future in Egypt, cant stop us to think about business and banking.. Egypt Finance is one of the important sections in Egypt Future. For three sessions, children will learn how to have their saving bank and how banks are working. Give them the vision on how to save and control their finance. With showing them positive examples of Egyptian business man and industry in Egypt that build a positive career. Materials with YDC office

Im the president Camp 3

How we choose a president and which skills have to be in this president. How we can build our skills to be the future president? These sessions help the children to build the leader skills inside them. Session no. It helps children and youth to learn about their history and think about their future with indirect way. By discussion the presentation contains, the children will discover Egypt with different way and will start to have their general politics view from young age.

Defining leadership This session help the children to define what leadership is for them with a practical way. It helps them to think how they can be a leader in their life from now. Session data by: Pakinam Qualities of a leader Session present to children which positive qualities we should work on to be a real positive leader. The children will be ready to make their own leadership vision board and to think how they can be Egypt future president and what will think to work more on their presidential campaign. Egypt is the heart of the world and has an important strategic location. Through this camp, children will discover the diversity of the world around us and will connect our Egypt present with the world around them. Egypt Folklore Camp 5

Ramadan is the holy and fasting month for Egyptian Muslims but it is an important month for all Egyptians too. It is our yearly month to celebrate our Egyptian traditions and folklores. In the coming sessions, we will focus on projects and ideas that will connect the children to their culture and identity. Session no. Age 4-7 Age 8-11 Session 1 15 mins: talk with Children about what is Ramadan for them. How they celebrate it every year. What is Ramadan culture the most things they love about Ramadan. Did they experience to do Ramdan decoration before. Materials Photos, Papers, scissors, colors and rope Session 2 Ramadan culture Materials Photos + 45 mins: Children will work together to make their Ramadan decorations for the camp. With different shapes and icons... children will understand the folkloric colors (Red, green, blue etc) that identify Ramadan spirit 15 mins: Reminder about last session talk 30 mins: With open discussion with children, the instructor will show them different photos about Ramadan culture, Mesaharati, Breakfast cannon (Madfaa Fetar) Children will know the real story behind these two traditions. 15 mins: like a play children will choose a child from each group to play Mesaharati for his group while singing and calling their names.

Better Future Summer Camp 2012 Session 3 Goha Performance Story telling Materials Session 4 Bakar Nuba culture and songs Session 5 Folklore Dance Tahteeb Session 6 10 mins: reminder for children about the last session 30 mins: Bakar short cartoon series, through this cartoon and song. The children will learn about Nuba culture and songs as part of Egyptian folkloric songs 20 mins: Children will train to sing together with Nubian song style and tradition. 10 mins: reminder about last session 30 mins: telling them a new story of Goha culture and heritage. 20 mins: children will have the chance to act a small scene from Goha performance to their colleagues. Story will help me to know in practical way what did they learn from the story. Also the winner group will be announcing end of session.
