Friday, October. 26, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. @ the Library (Coffee Shop) Bring your lunch or grab a bite to eat at the library coffee shop and bring a favorite story, book, or poem to share (or just come and listen). Technology Help Sessions for Students


Monday, October 15, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Krumm South Lab (Room 24/30) This fall the library staff will be offering technology sessions to students who are interested in learning a little bit more about the web, software, and the changing digital environment. These hour long sessions will feature free, online tools, on-campus resources, and other helpful programs that will make a students life that much easier. Please join us for our first session, Google Docs & Google Drive, on October 15th from 4:00-5:00 in the Krumm South Lab. This session will show you how to utilize cloud computing so you can work on projects from any computer, share projects with classmates or friends, and have an easy back-up for all of your work. The Grand View University Library & English Department are proud to host Stephen Lovely, author of Irreplaceable as part of the Wonder of Words (WoW) Festival. It is the story of a man who has lost his wife, Isabel in a tragic bicycling accident. Her heart has been donated to a woman named Janet who lives in Chicago. A year has passed and Janet is desperately trying to reach out her heart donors family. What follows is a narrative account of the interactions of all those touched by the tragedy; Janet, Isabels mother, the man who drove the truck that killed her, and most importantly her husband. The author of Irreplaceable, Stephen Lovely, is currently living in Iowa City. He attended the Iowa Writers Workshop from 1990-92. He is the Director of the Iowa Young Writers' Studio. Irreplaceable is his debut novel. The author will read from his novel with a reception and book signing to directly follow.

YA Book Club: First Meeting


Thursday, October 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m. First floor of the GV Library Interested in reading Young Adult Literature? Join us as we discuss our first book selection, John Greens The Fault in Our Stars. Ways to Celebrate National Book Month


Create an art project based on a book you read Set up a system to reward yourself for reading beyond that which is required for class Send a letter to an author you admire Test your knowledge with book trivia (http://www.goodreads.com/trivia) Recommend a book you love to a friend Volunteer to read to others (i.e. in nursing homes or elementary schools) Start a book club with friends

Research to Go!
November 13-15 and 28-30, midday Around campus Have you ever wanted to ask a librarian a quick question (or not-so-quick question), but you were in a different building and didnt want to pack up all of your stuff to head to the library? In November the librarians will come to you (sort of)! Research to Go will be happening the weeks before and after Thanksgiving. Librarians will go to various locations around campus with a laptop, ready to help you with any questions you might have about citations or research. Be watching your email for further announcements as to exact times and locations.
