Directions for Martian/Earthling Letter

You are writing a three- paragraph letter as either a member of the expedition crew (who somehow escaped) or a Martian. You might use some ideas from the story of colonization by the Spanish or the American Government Letters need to include AT LEAST the following: In the first paragraph you will explain what being on Mars means to you, why it is important to you personally. (Thoughts: Earthlings are explorers, Mars is home to Martians.) To support what being on Mars means to you in the first paragraph, cite: At least one piece of evidence from the text At least one piece of background knowledge from the introduction Something you know about what connects you to a place (your home, your neighborhood, etc.) In the second paragraph you will explain how you feel about the Martian or Earthling you are writing to. To support how you feel about the person/being you are writing to, cite: History. What happened to the first two expeditions? What is Martian history (you might need to make some of this up.) i At least one power that being has (from the text) How that power makes you feel (personal insight) How that character made contact with you (from the text) In the third paragraph, explain why you believe your actions are justified. If you are a Martian, explain what the problem was and why you had to do what you did. If you are an Earthling, did the Martians misunderstand you? What could they have done differently?
