This is usually a fun les


son. Learners love it b
ecause
theres lots of speaking
and listening practice
and they
can use their imaginati
ons and senses of hum
our.
Procedure:

1 Divide your class in


half; half
are doctors, half are p
atients.
2 Put the patients in
an area of the
class which becomes
the waiting
room. The patients sh
ould either
come up with their ow
n symptoms,
or you can give them
a few ideas
the one who wakes
up in the
morning feeling sick,
the one who
cant sleep, the one w
hos putting
on a lot of weight or th
e one whos
losing weight. The pa
tient can
have any kind of ailm
ent they want
and the idea is that e
very patient
should visit every doc
tor and get
advice from that docto
r.

3 Set a time limit for


each
consultation with the
doctors.
When the patients ha
ve visited
each doctor, they ma
y want to
make notes of the ad
vice given,
they return to the wa
iting area
and decide who was
the best
doctor, and perhaps
who was
the craziest!
4 Meanwhile, the doc
tors all get
together, because the
y are at
a medical conference
, and they
have to compare the
advice
theyve given and p
erhaps
decide who was the
craziest patient!
