Results of the pool party: The temperature was 100 degrees that day so that probably scared
off some people. We had 107 paid swimmers and four new neighborhood association
memberships. Some people mistakenly believe they are paid HNA members when in reality
they are Homeowners Association members.
The Highlands Fire Station sent a fire truck and Sparky (?) the remote control fire truck to
entertain the kids. Runza ran a food stand. We very much appreciate their help and all the
donations that contributed to the good time for the neighborhood kids and parents.
Conner Schley and James Nelson each won a pie eating contest and a beach towel from
Sam’s Club.
Volunteers who helped at the Pool Party: Tommy Taylor, Jeff Eckley, Myrna Coleman, Rose
Klein, Susan Neuverth, Donna and Larry Rice, Marcia Stafford and Jeri and Duane Austria.
The best suggestion on how to make it easier for next year came from Donna Rice. She
suggested that we don’t have any kid’s games. Just give each kid a squirt gun as they come
in (since that is the prize that they want) and give them a goodie bag filled with the prizes we
have left on their way out.
