VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS WEST SACRAMENTO POST #8762
905 Drever Street, West Sacramento, CA 95691

Comrades: Two comrades gave up their Saturday to clean the canteen. Nikki McBurnett and James Brashear worked all day taking off the old plastic that covered the flags and military crests. They vacuumed 30 years plus of dust from the walkway around the canteen and also cleaned the mess upstairs in front of the offices. James is making a new frame that will cover the older American flag. They plan on covering everything that had the old smoked cover plastic. They replaced all the broken light covers that went around the canteen at this at their own expense. I would like to thank Nikki and James for all their hard work and time spent on this laborious project. The Post received donations for tables and chairs from three members of our Post. Janet Bagdazian donated $100.00 in memory of Hugh King, Robert Slivkov donated $100.00 and Rudy Rutkauskas donated $200.00. We will replace some of our older tables so we can lend them out to our members. I found chairs at Costco that are a real close match to what we currently have. I will put these names on the plaques. Another donation was handed to me while I was having breakfast with a friend. The comrades name is William Denton he overheard me talking to my friend about how we needed to replace some of our tables and chairs. He told me that he heard us talking and would like to donate, so he handed me a check of $100.00. I would like to thank everyone for their generous donations. J ean gave me a call this morning delivering the sad news that George Newhall had passed away. George is the last of the male charter members of Post 8762, he was 98 years old. I knew George all of my 67 years. I lived across the street from him on Proctor Avenue when the streets were merely dirt and we had no sewers. At this time I do not know where the service will be held. Gary Reason ,All-American Commander
Dear Sisters: I would like to thank everyone for being so helpful and supportive of everything I have wanted to do. Thank out for teaching me what the Auxiliary is all about. I will keep on helping our veterans and community in any way I can. I will continue to have Tacos two or three Sundays a month. I presented a $1,500.00 Scholarship award to Cydney Parker at River City High School, before the end of the school year. Please drop of any plastic bags you might have as Jean really needs them. Another thank you to the Ladies Auxiliary and the Post for their donation of $100.00 each which enable two players to play ball this year. Please donate Nugget receipts which go to Meno and Education box tops. Have a Good Summer and Stay in good health. Teresa Blamer, President
