The model represents a process-flow of wood chips for the purpose of energy use. The wood chips flow is shown from the point of forest waste creation in the forest to the final combustion in the large combustion plant. The model represents only the mass flows, no raw energy inputs nor energy gains in the exports are shown.

Mass-Flow Analysis of Wood Chips used for energy generation
Dragan Lazic
Overview of the model
As the title shows, the model represents a process-flow of wood chips for the purpose of energy use The wood chips flow is shown from the point of forest waste creation in the forest to the final combustion in the large combustion plant, where the wood chips are combusted in order to produce electrical and thermal energy It has to be noted, that the model represents only the mass flows, no raw energy inputs nor energy gains in the exports are shown Because the mass balance means that all exports are equal to all imports, it was necessary to introduce some flows with no practical importance. Some of the impractical flows are for example the mass flows of combustion air into the system for combusting diesel, and combusting the chips themselves.
