Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

October 20, 2008

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Dianna Wright, Tami Soper, Rose Klein and
Kris Meek.

We discussed the Pool Party and ideas for improving it next year. At this year’s Pool
Party we had 173 swimmers and perfect swimming weather. We got a Thank You from
Jeromey and Jessie Coffey who won a prize at the party.

For next year Rose Klein suggested that we have two tables for paying so we shorten the
lines. Kris Meek suggested that we hand out the squirt guns at the door after they pay so
it doesn’t hold up the paying table. Maybe someone could go through the line to see who
is a member. Tami Soper suggested that members and their kids get to swim free as a
perk for membership. Perhaps we could announce it in the spring newsletter. There is a
question as to whether the hot dog vendor will be available next year.

Someone suggested that at the next Egg Hunt we have a drawing for members. Maybe
we could offer a large Easter Basket or a floral arrangement.

Dianna Wright made a motion to raise the rates per issue for advertising in our newsletter
to $25 for a small business card size ad and $50 for an ad twice that size. Seconded by
Tami Soper. Approved. (We deliver over 1,600 newsletters.) Tami Soper suggested that
we could offer an organizational membership to businesses for a yearly fee and those
members could get free advertising in the newsletter.

The dates for the Highlands lighting contest are Tues. Wed. Thurs. December 16, 17 and
18, 2008. Myrna Coleman will check with QP Ace Hardware and Nero’s Pizza/Barbeque
for prizes. Kris Meek will go to Sandhills Publishing and Down the Hatch. Dianna
Wright will check with Cracker Barrel, Carlos O’Kellys and Graham Tire. Rose Klein
will contact Hy-Vee and L & W Garbage.

The next meeting will be Monday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Fredstrom School. This
meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
