Highlands Neighborhood Association Minutes

February 16, 2009

Board members present: Myrna Coleman, Dianna Wright, Michelle Brown, Andrew Brown, Bill
Schlautman, Rose Klein, Jim Klein, Kris Meek and Tommy Taylor. Members and guests:
Dennis Boslau and Adam Hornung.

Bill Schlautman made a motion to accept the treasurer's report as e-mailed and printed.
Seconded by Andrew Brown. Approved.

Bill Schlautman made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as e-mailed and printed.
Seconded by Andrew Brown. Approved.

Andrew Brown made a motion to amend Article 8 of the Highlands Neighborhood Association
Bylaws from a 2-year to a 1-year term of office. Seconded by Michelle Brown. Approved.

Andrew Brown made a motion to amend Article 8 of the Bylaws under Board of Directors that
the corporation shall be governed by no fewer than three directors. Seconded by Jim Klein.
Approved.

Jim Klein made a motion than Andrew Brown make changes to the Bylaws and bring the
amended version to the next meeting. Seconded by Dianna Wright. Approved.

Guest Adam Hornung introduced himself and shared his background and reasons he is running
for an At Large position on the Lincoln City Council. Mr. Hornung grew up in Arnold NE, went
to school at Doane College, The Primary Election is on April 7th and the General Election will
be on May 5th.

Kris Meek has conferred with the leader of the Boy Scouts. They are going to discuss her offer
at their next meeting. If they are willing to deliver our newsletter three times per year at $150
each time they will let her know.

Dianna Wright checked on costs for getting informational magnets printed. She said that for
four lines in four colors the company has a buy 1,000 get 1,000 free deal. The first 1,000 are 56
cents each so with the second 1,000 free it would cost 28 cents each for 2,000. Myrna Coleman
asked that Dianna and Kris check into it in a little more detail for the next meeting.

The Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 11th. Volunteers will meet at the shelter in the North
Park near Fredstrom School at 11 a.m. The Egg Hunt will begin at 1 p.m. Tommy Taylor and
Mike Crist will take the plastic eggs and candy to Lancaster Manor so the residents there can fill
the eggs for us. Myrna Coleman will check into borrowing the chalkboard signs from Fredstrom
School. We learned from last year that the youngest age group is the largest group and needs the
largest area and the most candy.

The next meeting will be Monday, March 16 at 7:30 at Fredstrom School. This meeting
adjourned at 9 p.m.
