Design Issues Group Annual Report, 2009 The Design Issues Group held their annual meeting at the

2009 NAEA conference in Minneapolis. 1. Proposal We agreed that the proposal sent to the NAEA Board of Directors regarding the inclusion of design education as an essential component for teaching and changing the name to the National Art and Design Education Association. The proposal is a preliminary request for consideration. If the Board deems it worth pursuing, it will then require a formal resolution presented to the Delegates Assembly in 2010, and a vote by the NAEA membership. 2. DIG Goals We revisited the DIG goals that were established in 2006 and prioritize new goals for the next three years. 3. Future Conferences There was a discussion of the role that DIG will have for the 2010 NAEA conference in Washington, DC, and the 2011 conference in Seattle, Washington. 4. The Design Destinations Flyers These have been circulated to attendees at the national conference for the past 2 years. Liz Kowalchuk has created them for New York, New Orleans, and Minneapolis. These have been very favorably welcomed by the members. It is a service that we are giving to the membership.
