In groups of 3 or 4 produce a 30 40 second introduction to a radio show for Oldham Community Radio to include: Show jingle (own composition or from a copyright-free source) Presenter introduction Greeting a studio guest who is an up and coming local comedian Response from studio guest Archive sound clip of comedians performance The introduction must show clear understanding of sound editing and mixing and conventions of radio. This exercise is worth 15 marks Station Oldham Community Radio Scheduling Schools & Colleges strand 7am 9am Presenter demographics / voice type / mode of address Ross King, direct address to the audience and 2nd person informal approach, colloquial tone, friendly.

Comedian style of comedy / demographics / voice type / mode of address / mini biography (back story) Sam Lees, laid back, casual person, funny, northern humour, from Manchester, 1419+ or anyone that is interested in comedians, informal tone, towards the presenter.

Jingle ideas/conventions Upbeat, catchy, straight to the point, around 4 seconds long, recognisable.

Institutional Conventions (how are you going to make it fit in with OCR style/programming/slot) Comedian from Manchester which is the city, where Oldham lies, northern presenter and humour so will appeal to people in Oldham.

Music/SFX ideas conventions

Canned laughter. Claps and cheers towards the comedian, a short archive clip of the comedian in action.

Audience who are they? How are you going to engage them? 14-19+ schools and colleges. The style of comedy that the comedian has will keep them engaged and the informal and chatty tone.
