    Background information A dark area called the shadow is formed. A shadow does not exist on its own. It is formed when light is being blocked by an object. Since light travels in a straight line and cannot bend around the object, a shadow is

    formed.

    Activity 1
    Object 1 has a triangular hole in the middle. Therefore, light can pass through the hole and that explains why the shadow when casted on the white screen, a triangular bright spot is in the middle. The part where light is being blocked thus create a dark area on the white screen.
