LESSON PLAN ON ENVIRONMENT OF OUR CITY Class: A class of secondary school students Duration: 40 minutes Level: Low Topic:

The environment of our city General objective: By the end of the lesson, students are able to complete an exercise on what they can see around them in the city, contribute ideas on how to preserve the citys environment around us and complete a guessing game. Specific objective: By the end of the lesson, students are able to complete at least 5 blanks out of 10 blanks on what they can see around them in the city, contribute and write down at least 3 correct sentences on what we cannot do in order to save the environment of the city and lastly, tick at least 4 pictures by guessing the answer while the teacher is giving them hints on what the picture is about. Materials: Worksheets based on environmental issues
STAGE SET INDUCTION (5 minutes) TEACHERS ACTIVITY 1. Teacher introduces the topic of the day-the environment of our city. 2. Teacher asks the students to sit in pairs. 3. The teacher then asks them to complete a task on what they can see around them in the city. TEACHING AIDS Worksheets EXPECTATION OUTCOMES Students are able to complete at least 5 out of 10 blanks.

PRESENTATION (10 minutes)

1. Teacher then has a question and answer session with them by asking them how to keep the environment clean and what kind of pollution we are facing now. 1. Teacher then instructs the students to sit in pairs. 2. Teacher distributes a worksheet to every pair. 3. Teacher instructs them to write them what they should not or must not do to keep the environment clean. 4. Teacher then randomly picks some students to read their answers out. 1. Teacher then instructs the students to play a game. 2. The teacher reads out some hints on one of the environmental issues on the worksheet. 3. The students have to tick the correct pictures. When a student ticks all of their pictures, the first one to shout BINGO wins the game. Worksheet, marker, whiteboard

Students are able to answers the teachers questions.

CONTROLLED PRACTICE (10 minutes)

Students are able to write down at least 3 correct sentences.

COMMUNICATION (10 minutes)

Students are able to tick at least 5 words from the table and able to identify the pictures.

CLOSURE (5 minutes)

1. During the closure part, the teacher concludes the lesson and has a question and answer session (assessment time) with the students. 2. The teacher recalls back on what they have learnt and ask them to state out what they can contribute in saving the planet which they have came across during the lesson.

Students are able to answer the teachers questions.
