OPERATION AMPLIFIER Voltage Follower Configuration Learning outcome: Student will understand the basics concept of operational amplifier

r and understand the configuration of this amplifier. Student also can explain the circuit configuration of op-amp such as inverting, noninverting, summing, voltage follower etc. Laboratory equipment: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Theory: Op-amp is a very high gain voltage amplifier with two inputs. One input is called the non-inverting input and is indicated with a plus sign (+). The other input is called the inverting input and is indicated with a minus sign (-). The op-amp amplifier any difference in voltage that appears between these two inputs and produces an output that is equal to this difference multiplied by the open-loop gain of the op-amp. There are many different configurations of op-amp such as inverting amplifier, non-inverting amplifier, voltage follower, summing amplifier etc. Basic relationship: Measured gain: Av = Vout /Vin Procedure: Experiment i : Basic Voltage Follower Configuration 1. By using the electronic fundamentals board 1 (figure 3.1), apply the 12 Vdc and ground the board. 2. Set the oscilloscope control as follows: a) Channel 1 b) Channel 2 3. Apply power and position the input signal above the output signal on the oscilloscope screen. 4. Apply 1KHz from function generator to that circuit. 5. Measure the input and output by using the oscilloscope channel probe 1 and 2 such and Vp-p, time, frequency and draw the waveform from the oscilloscope screen. 6. Calculate the amplifier gain. 7. Complete the result in table 3.1. Electronics fundamentals board 7 Dual trace oscilloscope Signal frequency generator Regulated power supply Wire jumper
