Air quality
Laminar air flow 20 air changes/hr using 5mm pore filters Other essentials : - less people in the OT - reduce traffic of OT personnel - unobstructed air vents / closed doors

Temperature & humidity


19-22 C with 45-55% humidity higher for neonates, children, elderly pt. & prolonged surgery

2 types: -completely mobile -fixed column

Essential characteristics: -cushions sympathetic to pt. contours -easy table controls for change of position -easily removable bottom half
