Lembits cheeky ex caught shoplifting By GUY PATRICK Published: Today CHEEKY Girl Gabriela Irimia was cautioned by police yesterday after being caught shoplifting in a supermarket. The ex-girlfriend of former MP Lembit Opik nicked groceries and beauty items worth about 40 from a Sainsbury's store. The 26-year-old - who shot to pop fame with twin sister Monica as The Cheeky Girls - was taken to the local nick, where she was cautioned. Last night a witness to the incident in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, said: "I saw her being dragged off by security. I recognised her face from the TV and couldn't believe what was going on. I don't know what she was playing at." A police spokesman said: "A 26-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of theft of grocery items. She was interviewed about the circumstances of the incident and subsequently given a caution for theft." After auditioning for Popstars: The Rivals, The Cheeky Girls achieved success in the charts with four top ten hits between 2002 and 2004. Their debut single Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) sold more than 1.2million copies worldwide and the girls became an overnight sensation. Gabriela, originally from Romania, started dating Lembit - who appeared in this year's I'm A Celebrity - after they met on Channel Five's All Star Talent Show in 2006. Despite getting engaged two years later, Gabriela ended the relationship soon after - just two weeks before finding out she was pregnant with his child, which she miscarried. She is now dating property developer Nick Zapolski.
