Text can be inserted a number of ways, including the Multiline text button, or by typing T or MT for Multiline text, also the DT for Dynamic Text command, which gives a greater range of options. Once selected, you can then select a Justify option, which aside from the options above, also includes ALIGN - to an angle by selecting two end points, FIT - select two end points and the text will be stretched or compressed to fit the specified distance, but only is available for horizontal text. Or select a STYLE. If you cannot remember the name of a particular style, enter ? then you will be prompted to enter *. AutoCAD will then open a window displaying all of the available choices. Specify a height for the text allow for the scale of the drawing. Set a rotation angle or just enter for 0. Type in the desired text. Enter will start a new line of text below the first, and enter twice will finish the command.

Be sure to check that text is on the correct layer to suit its size when printed. i.e. in a drawing at scale 1:100, text should be placed at 350mm high to print at 3.5mm high, and should be on layer TEXT 2.
