Industry Commitment & Education

BURNDY takes its commitment to the design and manufacture of quality utility connectors very seriously. Our engineering team has centuries of combined experience in serving the electrical industry. Another vital aspect to development of connectors to take us into the 21st century and beyond is our in-house engineering test laboratory located in the BURNDY Headquarters building in Manchester, New Hampshire. The test lab certies and tests tools and connector products to the following standards:

ANCE ANSI ASTM CSA IEC IEEE Military

NBR9326 NEMA NUPIC OSHA SAE UL

With a team of skilled technicians our test lab is capable of performing many types of testing including: Electrical - Current Cycle, Fault Current, EMF, Corona, and more Environmental - Freeze Thaw, Salt Spray, Industrial Contiminants, and more Mechanical - Sustained Load, Pullout, Secureness, Fatigue, Clamp Slip Metallurgical - Grain Structure, Heat Treatment, Failure Analysis

We also contract with world reknown test laboratories throughout the Americas to qualify new designs that support new industry solutions and installation practices. We are active members of many committees specic to the utility industry including: ANSI CIGRE CSA ECNE IEC IEEE ISEE (International Society of Explosive Engineers) NAAUD

Education - Past, Present and Future:

Ive known of and used BURNDY my entire career. Im proud to now have a relationship with them here at the Northwest Lineman College. They help teach our future industry leaders about the value of reliable BURNDY is also a strong supporter of local science and connections and the benefit engineering education programs. For over ten years BURNDY to the intergrity of our transmission and distribution has been contributing engineering time, resources, and nancial donations to one of the local high schools FIRST networks. BURNDY has always been committed Robotics team. FIRSTs mission is to inspire students of all to education at all levels.

Established in 1941 by Bern Dibner, the BURNDY Library, an extensive collection of the History of Science and Technology publications with a concentrated focus on the physical sciences, was just the rst step in the companys continuing dedication to education. Today, building on Bern Dibners vision of sharing and expanding knowledge continually, BURNDY works closely with the Northwest Lineman College.

ages to seek careers in science, engineering and technology elds. Alumni of Team 501 - The Power Knights have had internships with BURNDY during their college education, some accepting positions with us after graduation and even volunteering to mentor the high school FIRST team and the cycle continues. BURNDY also supports local and regional colleges with internship programs on an annual basis.

Support & Services

Expertise: Our Utility Team includes engineers, sales representatives, design personnel, laboratory technicians, product management, quality control, and specication personnel. Our engineering team alone has centuries of combined experience serving the electrical industry. Local Connections: BURNDY offers customers local Utility-focused sales representatives people that work directly for us along with a small select group of manufacturers representatives. Maintaining a local sales force to support our customers brings an understanding of local requirements and knowledge of the systems in the area that other manufacturers cant offer. With design support and testing lab facilities in Manchester, New Hampshire, BURNDY provides the best in technical support and customer services available in the industry.

Connection Forensics: In part due to our long history in the industry as well as the services our lab can offer, BURNDY has been where people turn when a difculty arises. At times well receive a connection from a customer that has been removed from service, where a failure or hotspot has occurred. We are asked for an analysis and recommendation for future installations. Whether BURNDY product or not, well review the application and examine the product to help determine a root cause of the failure or concern. Typically, the use of an incorrect die or insufcient wire preparation is the key shortcoming of the connection. Our goal in these analyses is to assist in providing recommendations for improvement, clarify application requirements, and increase awareness of the importance of proper connections. This is just another example of our commitment to helping wherever possible in developing a strong electrical infrastructure for all consumers.

Training and Project Management BURNDY regularly hosts training sessions for utility and industry organization personnel and our local salespeople throughout the US also will provide on-site training. With more than two decades of line experience, our Utility Lineman Demonstrator provides training services for our entire portfolio of Utility products. He also acts as our liaison with the Northwest Lineman College curriculum. His industry and eld experience is an essential element of our new product development efforts. In addition, BURNDY maintains two eld-based Project Managers who work exclusively with EPCs, Contractors, and utility professionals, utilizing their combined expertise in design, line installation, and eld sales. They are integral members of our Utility team, providing customer training, certication classes, and project management expertise for our IMPLO line of transmission products and supporting our Utility eld sales team, products, and services.

BURNDY has data mining capabilities that we are willing to share with Utility Project Services Groups relating to Transmission and Substation activity. In addition, our proprietary software used for vibration control spacing has the ability to save users money on projects in addition to other time saving products. Take advantage of all we have to offer in the ever growing transmission market.

History of Innovation & Commitment to the Electrical Industry
