Duties and Responsibilities of the Planning Unit

Under the direction of the Regional Director or Assistant Regional Director, The Planning Unit shall perform the following duties and functions: 1. Prepare workable, effective, and economical regional educational plans based on the division, district, and institutional plans. 2. Formulate and implement statistical development plan for the region. 3. Provide policy and decision makers, planners, and other interested parties with achievable objectives and up-to-date data and information. 4. Initiate, develop, monitor and evaluate projects based on priority needs. 5. Coordinate with the divisions/units of the Regional Office in the preparation of the curriculum researches, development activities and project implementation. 6. Assist in strengthening linkages with the Regional Development Council (RDC), regional planning group of the DECS, Local Government Development Council, Government Planning Agencies and other Non-Government Planning Agencies. 7. Offer and provide consultant services to the divisions, districts and institutions in the preparations of economical and effective educational plans. 8. Initiate and conduct staff development programs to upgrade planning competencies of the planning personnel in the region. 9. Encourage and cultivate educational innovation and technology in the region. 10. Assist in the preparation of the Regional Budget. 11. Perform such other Functions as may be assigned by the Regional and Assistant Regional Director.
