At time of writing the Dec '13 EUA Contract was at 4.27. Caution is expected in the market today as carbon speculators and hedgers wait the big vote in Strasbourg tomorrow morning. I came across an interesting report by the Climate Policy Initiative. This report is very informative as it gives commercials an idea of where policy is likely to go in the upcoming years. It can be found at here. The report analyses how climate policy will develop in 5 regions and how these regions will interact in the future. The regions covered are Brazil, China, India, Europe, and the US. The report should give you some insight into global policy direction and how it may effect your commercial interests in the future. Although, the various policy instruments are lambasted on a regular basis, climate change is only one of many reasons why we are going down the path we are. Resource Management in the medium to long term carries equal weight if not more than the climate change scenario. As resources diminish and demand increases, inputs and outputs will be accounted for to an ever increasing degree.
