Club Member and Seller Sale Duties

The Consignment Sale is managed entirely by members of the club and is our biggest fundraising opportunity. As a result, it is important that each member contribute time to support the sale. Below are the shift requirements. Status Members Ways & Means Committee Members Required Duties Work a 2-hour shift at one sale per club year. Work a 6-hour shift, which consists of the 2-hour shift required for all club members & 4-hour committee requirement. These shifts can be broken up throughout the year. *Additional 3.5-hour shift is required if a W&M committee member also registers as a seller. Work a minimum 3.5hr shift at each sale they register to sell at. Post 5 Flyers

Sellers

Additional Information about Shifts:

Sign-Up: There are a variety of shift duties to choose from. Descriptions for each shift, including the time required, will be provided prior to each sale as part of the sign-up process.

No-Show Policy and Penalties:

Members: The club counts on your participation during the shift you signed up for. A noshow seriously impacts the club. Thus, members must work their shifts. Should a member no show/no call, it is up to the discretion of the W&M Chairs and the club Executive Board to decide how each situation is to be handled. Sellers: Anyone who signs up to sell at a sale, must work their shift, unless they contact W&M a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the sale date. It is up to the discretion of the W&M Chairs and the club Executive Board to decide how each situation is to be handled. Anyone who signs up to sell and is a no-show/no-call prior to the sale, may have their letter taken away &/or could be suspended from being allowed to sell again. It is up to the discretion of the W&M Chairs and the club Executive Board to decide how each situation is to be handled. Anyone who does not fulfill their shift responsibility, while still selling in the sale, may be fined 10% of their sales, suspended from selling in the sale again &/or required to work a double shift at the next sale. It is up to the discretion of the W&M Chairs and the club Executive Board to decide how each situation is to be handled.

Seller Registration, Requirements and Day of Sale Guidelines

Seller Registration:
To be an eligible Seller, you must have submitted your membership form or dues. If you have not done so, you will not receive your sale proceeds until both the membership form and dues are received by the club. If you would like to sell you must contact Erin Naso216-570-8593 or erinnaso@gmail.com to request your shift time and letter. All sellers are assigned letters (A-Z4), which is used to mark your items for sale and ensure that you receive your sale proceeds. After September 1 or February 1, your letter may be given to another member, if you have not yet requested to sell.

Seller Requirements:
After registering as a seller, you have the following responsibilities: Post 5 flyers Work a minimum 3.5hr shift at the sale you are participating in Following the Selling Guidelines below. Help the Club maintain a positive reputation by only selling items that are in excellent, clean condition.

Setting Up Your Items for Sale

Sellers must set out their own items. Anything not set out, will be placed in a corner to fend for itself. The facility will be open on Friday from 5:30-6:30 for sellers to bring their items to set up. Consider bringing a luggage rack or stroller to help carry your items from your car to the sale location. It is busy and often a long walk from the parking lot. As this is a member-run sale, please be courteous as you are setting out your items and leave the area as nice or nicer than you found it . If a pile is getting too high, start a new one. If a rack is too full, move items down/around to accommodate the items.

Unsold Items
Sellers may pick up remaining items on Saturday before 12:15p.m.. At 12:30 sharp, all remaining items will be donated.

General Selling Guidelines & Labels/Tags

Policies:
The club does not assume responsibility for any items on consignment. The club does not assume responsibility for any items damaged or stolen from the sale. We will do our best to ensure it doesnt happen, but it cannot be guaranteed. We reserve the right to remove items that do not meet our standards. Seller Beware: All Sales are Final. Cash or Credit Cards (3% fee added) from the Public. Members may write checks with valid drivers license.

Selecting Items for Sale:

You can sell acceptable items in excellent condition relating to maternity, motherhood and children. (All clothing sizes up to 18.) Quality: The quality of the items in the sale impact the reputation of the club and, importantly, future sales. o Do NOT attempt to sell an item that is broken, stained, missing pieces, ripped, dirty or otherwise of poor quality. This is NOT a yard sale. To ensure your items sell, please only sell clothing for the upcoming seasons (fall/winter in Oct., spring/summer in March). What doesnt sell well? Handmade items, high-priced baby bedding, toys without batteries All items MUST meet all CURRENT SAFETY STANDARDS! Please check the http://www.cpsc.gov website for an updated list of recalled items and also for the Dangerous and Recalled Products Reference Guide for Resale Stores (consignment sellers).

Required Seller Labels:

Prior to the sale, sellers will receive a pre-printed label template. You must use the label/ tag we provide you. o If you do not use the tags we provide you, you will not get paid for items sold AA that are not on club tags. The proceeds from such a sale will be considered an anonymous donation to the club. Consider printing labels on colored cardstock paper for ease of tracking (be consistent and use the same color). Special markings (like a cut-out border) or highlighting also helps. Do not use labels printed on sticky label paper because they do not stick to clothing. Be sure to write clearly and try to use even dollar amounts. Items sold must be in $0.25 increments and valued at $0.50 and higher; nothing under $0.50 is to be sold. If something under $0.50 or not in a $0.25 increment is purchased, you will not get credit for the sale and the money will be considered an anonymous donation to the club. You should include an item description on the tag to help eliminate confusion if the tag is removed or lost. Feel free to price your items as you wish. See suggestions below based on past sales. If you know what the original price of the item was (if its a name brand), if it was worn once, note it on the tag. If, at any time, you change the price on your tags please initial the changes.

Seller Supplies
Cardstock paper pre-printed tags with your Seller Letter on it (see above for label details)

AA

Tagging Gun or Safety pins: Be sure to attach your label securely! Worried about your tags getting ripped off? Consider buying a tagging gun (can get for under $10 online) and/or using card stock paper when printing off your tags! NO straight pins for safety reasons

Hangers: dry cleaning type preferred

Plastic bags (such clear, ziploc-style bags) for bagging lots, small parts of toys, required parts to a crib, etc.

Masking tape or clear packing tape for securing tags to items (only tape two sides of the tag, or make it in a way the tagger can easily cut off your tag) If you must use packing tape, please use it sparingly. Make sure you attach the tag in a manner that the tagger can easily rip or cut it off. We will not use the double tag method, it didnt work. Masking tape must not be used on clothing; it does not stick. Cable ties or long twist ties for tagging shoes

Packaging Items for Sale

Clothing:
Hangers: Try to use hangers as these items always sell much better. You can get free hangers by using dry cleaning hangers or asking stores if you can keep the hangers when you make purchases. Some drycleaners will sell you bulk hangers (100 for $4). Size: Fits small? Fits large? If the item shrunk and says 3T but fits like a 2T, write fits like 2T on the size of the tag and place it with 2T clothes, if it looks small for its size, it probably wont sell unless marked and put with the size it really fits. Do not use S, M or L to size your items. Write what size it fits (5/6 etc). Specific Item Requirements Try to sell clothing in outfits/sets when possible. Pin two-piece garments together with safety pins even if hung so they dont become separated. Must be securely fastened to the sloping wire of the hanger, if using dry cleaning type hangers.

Pricing Your Items
Questions to ask yourself: o Do I want the item back if it doesnt sell? (The answer should be no since you are looking to sell the item.so price accordingly!!) o How much would I pay for it? (Be honest..this is a good guide.) Consider the brand, condition, age, size, etc when pricing your items. o The laws of Supply & Demand always apply. If there are a lot of newborn items, those priced highest probably wont sell. Keep your pricing realisticwe all know the Target, WalMart, Kmart type brands. Dont overprice yourself.
