Course Description: This course will provide the student with a well-balanced workout plan for their own personal health. Both a variety of weight training techniques and a cardiovascular program will be in effect throughout the semester. Students will develop a stronger cardiovascular system, more muscle strength/endurance, and better understanding of health care for their bodies. There will be more importance placed on body weight workouts (3 times a week). These workouts resemble a cross fit type of training and require few weights, and are designed so the student can achieve an overall strength and cardiovascular workout. Two days a week will be set aside for students to personally train in the weight room to familiarize themselves with the facility. Students will also have the opportunity to become familiar with most of the major muscles in the human body and be able to identify them by name and what muscles are being worked during an exercise. Required materials: Workout clothes. Tennis shoes, sweats, T-shirts and shorts. No sandals or boots are allowed. Lockers are provided but each student SHOULD have their own combination lock. Each student is responsible for the security of their own personal items. Grading is based on a 10 point per day system: Points can be deducted for the following: 1. Students tardy to class=loss of 2 points 2. Insubordination= multiple points, (instructors discretion) 3. Refusal to dress for class or participate= 0 for the day. If a student has more than 5 no dress/non participation 0 days, they will not receive credit for the marking period. If a student has more than 10 of these days they will NOT earn credit for the semester.

Student Responsibilities: 1. Proper workout attire is required. 2. The students must not sit out or skip class. This is a participation class and will be graded as such. 3. Students are expected to do their best at all times in whatever activity is being offered that day.

4. Showers are recommended to promote hygiene and health. 5. Students are expected to stay in the locker room/gym area until the bell rings. Failure to comply will result in loss of points or a O for the day. Dont cut out of class early!! 6. If a student is in school, he/she is expected to change for class and do what they can for that day. A doctor note will be the only reason as to a student sitting out of activity. Special consideration will be given to students who are returning from an extended illness. 7. Students are EXPECTED to be in the workout area! DO NOT wander away from the weight room/gym area! YOU WILL LOSE POINTS for the day if you do so.
