MxL Induction Heating System
components:

A Power Conditioning Unit (PCU) is required

to set and control reservoir temperature, log
downhole temperatures, pressure and other
operating information.

An offset Tubing Hanger and Feed Through are required

to connect the surface power cables to the downhole
ESP cable and provide a pressure seal between the
annulus and atmosphere.
ESP Cable is banded to the tubing string from
the feed through to the Side Outlet Sub.
A splice is required at each end.

A Side Outlet Sub is required to transition the ESP cable

from the side of the tubing to the connection at the
Induction Heater. The pump suction pups are installed
above the SoSub.
The Induction Heater consists of inductors in smooth wall steel casing together
with temperature sensors and a bottom hole pressure sensor. The picture shows
a system in the shop hooked up with jumper wires for testing and calibration.

An electrical port is provided, at the end of each
joint of inductor, for connection of wires.

The instrument circuit board and

pressure sensor are housed in the
“bullnose” at the end of the tool.
The temperatures and bottom hole
pressure signals are collected and
then transmitted to the PCU over
the ESP cable during delivery of
power to the tool. Real time closed
loop control of downhole temperature
is provided from the PCU.
