13th September 2013 Dear Parents and Caregivers, To complement our learning about money in Maths we have booked an excursion for Thursday 17th October (Term 4, Week 1). We will visit the Adelaide Central markets with our buddy class and students will buy their own healthy lunch from a variety of market stalls with help from their buddies and parent helpers. We will be looking at how we need to check our money before we buy anything and work out how much money we will have left over. The senior buddies will be helping the younger buddies to purchase wisely and healthily too. The experience of walking through the central markets encompasses healthy eating and multiculturalism aspects that have also been touched on at school too. We will travel by bus, leaving school at 9.30am and returning just before 3pm. The cost for this day will be $17, this is made up of $10 for the bus (see invoice) and $7 for the healthy lunch (to be given to Miss Durst prior to the excursion). Please complete the tear off permission slip and return it with money to Miss Boyce, Miss Durst or the front office by the 20th of September (Friday Week 9). We request that you bring $7 for lunch prior to the excursion that will be kept for safekeeping by your childs teacher and distributed for purchase of individual students food on the day of the excursion. This way there is a set amount of money and students will have to work to a $7 budget. Children are to bring a packed recess and a drink. Lunch will be made up of the healthy food that is purchased and eaten in small groups. Students must wear school uniform and hat. I hope your child will be able to participate in this valuable Maths learning experience.
