Dear Eastminster Family, We began the season of Lent on Ash Wednesday marking ourselves with the sign of the cross, and committing ourselves to the spiritual disciplines of prayer, study, reflection, and for some of us fasting. As we continue to read Johns gospel together, gathering to learn and grow in small groups, I encourage you to take an active part in our Celebration of Faith event Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10. Our Evangelism Committee has worked hard to provide three wonderful workshops that will enhance our spiritual growth during Lent. Rev. Dr. Scott Andrews preached our Ash Wednesday service and will be continuing our Lenten study of John, focusing on the signs of Johns gospel. Scott received his PH. D. from Duke Divinity and has taught adjunct courses at Union Presbyterian Seminarys Charlotte campus. Scott will be preaching our sanctuary services on Sunday morning, and he will conclude the weekend preaching the PEACE worship service, where we will celebrate the Lords Supper together. Dr. Duffy Robbins is a nationally recognized speaker for youth ministry, has written a number of books, and has traveled all over the world speaking to students and their parents. He will be leading a workshop on faith formation of children on Saturday evening, and then will be conducting two joint sessions for parents and their youth on Sunday evening. In addition, Duffy will preach our Jubilee worship service on Sunday morning. Rev. David Ealy is a Presbyterian pastor at Hawfields Presbyterian Church in Mebane, NC, and has led workshops at the Annual Recreation Workshop in Montreat, NC, as well as leading music and worship with the Montreat Youth Conferences. David will be leading our creative arts component on photography. If youre a professional, a beginner, or just interested in photography, this is the workshop for you! David will lead an early session Saturday afternoon that will send you out to take theme-specific photos that will be a part of worship on Sunday morning. If you cant make the early workshop, you can still participate for the weekend. In addition to all of this, there will be programming for children, and childcare available for the weekend. I strongly encourage you to participate by filling out the brochure that was mailed to you, or simply by going to our website and signing up today online: www.eastminsterpres.org! Dont let your schedules prevent you from participating in that which you are able. May God bless us all as we continue to seek the Lord this Lenten season! Grace and Peace,

Jesus Signs from the Gospel of John - A Celebration of Faith. This is a family event the weekend of March 9 and 10. We will welcome three visiting speakers! Rev. Dr. Scott Andrews, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Bennettsville, SC, will lead a series of sessions in continuation with our Lenten study on the signs that Jesus preformed in the Gospel of John. Dr. Duffy Robbins, Professor of Youth Ministry at Eastern University, St. Davids, PA, will lead classes for families of elementary children on the importance of faith formation in the home, and a class on the importance of faith formation in teenagers. Our third visiting guest, Rev. David Ealy, of Hawfields Presbyterian Church in Mebane, NC, uses various forms of visual arts to reach Gods people. He will lead a class for anyone intrigued or interested in photography as a way to tell the story of ministry. Brochures and sign up are available on the church website. www.eastminsterpres.org An Eastminster Blood Drive will be held on Sunday, March 17, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the CLC parking lot. Look for the Blood Mobile! To schedule an appointment please visit Redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code: Eastminster or contact John Sim at 803-606-7230 or Johnsimsc@yahoo.com. Remember, the need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give Blood! The Footcare Ministry celebrated its fifth anniversary on February 12, by providing and serving lunch at Christ Central Ministry to more than one hundred homeless men and women. Eastminster members of the Footcare Team were joined by some longstanding volunteers from Ladson Presbyterian Church to host a celebratory luncheon. Rev. Jon Wagner offered an uplifting prayer and Rev. Amos Disasa delivered a heartfelt message. Their powerful words seemed to resonate with the guests, CCM staff, and the volunteers. The atmosphere of Christian love was heartwarming and the guests appreciated their party favors at the luncheons conclusion. Tuesdays special occasion allowed our collaborative ministry to praise God for His provisions in this partnership: for Richland Care being the local medical network assisting our guests, for CCM providing the footcare room, and to the volunteers who receive blessings while being a blessing. The Footcare Team invites EPC members to come any Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. to CCM and experience this transforming ministry. The Flower Guild is accepting memorials and honoraria for Easter lilies to decorate the sanctuary for Easter. Please write the wording you wish to have printed in the bulletin and enclose a check for $15.00 made out to the Eastminster Flower Guild for each lily. Checks may be mailed to the church or placed in the Flower Guild box in the workroom. Forms are available in the reception area. The deadline for your order is Monday, March 18 . Lilies may be removed by the donor from the sanctuary after the 10:30 a.m. service on Easter. Over the past year, Eastminster has given 25 lbs of soda can (and other aluminum) tabs to Ronald McDonald House. It takes quite a number of tabs to make a pound. All are appreciated. There is a vase in Mary Baldaufs office for the tabs. Please save and contribute. Ronald McDonald House uses money from the tabs to provide lodging and meals for families of children in Palmetto Health (Richland) Childrens Hospital.

Actors and Singers Needed!

Rehearsals are beginning for the Spring Choir Musical presented by our Childrens Choirs. All students, K5 through 5th grade, interested in joining the cast of Its Good!, please join other actors/singers in room S-90 from 5:00-5:45 p.m. on Wednesdays from now until April 24th. This musical, the story of Gods Creation, will be presented on the last evening of WE@EPC on April 24th.

Eastminsters kitchen staff would like to remind folks with standing reservations for Wednesday night dinners that they should call ahead (by Monday prior) to cancel their reservations when they are unable to come for dinner. This will enable the kitchen staff to stay within budget by preparing only the amount of food needed per the number of reservations received. Likewise, for lunches and other meals, please remember to call to make a reservation so the kitchen will know how many to prepare for! Remember that reservations and cancellations can also be made on-line on the EPC web page. Thank you!
