Rough Plot/Synopsis Wakes up in bed with picture of family in view, rolls over to an empty space and cradles picture.

Looks for bottle of alcohol but finds an empty one so gets up to get one from downstairs. Decides to go to the shop and sees a boy on the opposite side of the road sitting on the curb. He thinks nothing of it and goes to the shop to get some more alcohol. He comes back and the boy is still on the curb. Phil sits next to him and offers him a drink, the boy refuses so Phil goes back inside. Later he looks outside to see the boy is still there. With an empty bottle in his hand he opens the door and signals the boy to come in. Phil goes to get another drink and leaves Jake in the living room. When Phil returns he indicates Jake to sit down. Phil is watching TV then he gets up and goes into the kitchen. He returns with some beans on toast and just as he goes to take a bite he notices Jake staring at him. Phil clocks on that Jake is obviously hungry through the way he is staring and so offers him his dinner. Jake demolishes the dinner and eats like an animal. Phil shows an expression of surprise but says nothing. Phil is watching the sport and is shouting at the TV; Jake is looking at Phil and is clearly bored so Phil throws the controller at him so he can change the channel. Later that night Jake falls asleep on the sofa, when Phil notices he gets a blanket and puts it over him. He then turns the TV off and goes to bed. In the morning Jake wakes up to the noise of shouting. It is clear that it is his father so he stays in the living room worried. The door is slammed shut and Phil walks back into the room looks at Jake and walks into the kitchen. Jake then follows Phil out of the door and into the kitchen. Jake looks at Phil, Phil looks tense his hands are covering his face and he is breathing loudly. He then washes his face and looks at Jake and notices his dirty school uniform. They soon establish that Jake should be at school .Phil then rushes out of the room and grabs Jake a clean school shirt that is his sons. Phil seems to have calmed down by now; he seems less tense and is acting like he has found a solution. Already late, once Jake is dressed they leave. Phil walks Jake to the school gates and they wait outside and stand there for a moment. After a short goodbye and hug, we see Phil in a new light.

Montage: Phil walks through the door and stands there, it is clear that now he has planned what he is going to do. He pours alcohol down the sink, tidys his mess up around the house, throws bottles away and he is quite emotional. Ending with him speaking to his son on the phone.
