 A lover’s kit for killing

Scene 1 - INT: COLLEGE CANTEEN – MIDDAY/NOON

There was a group of friends (Elliot, Josie, David, Phoebe and Jill) who meet up in the newly
decorated canteen at lunch. They are sitting around a large table deep in conversation about
anything and everything.

JOSIE/ELLIOT
(whispering/giggling)

DAVID
(Clasping ELLIOT on the shoulder) So, what’re you lovebirds doing for
Valentine’s day? Jill.

JILL
I have a romantic date with my TV and ice-cream.
Single life rules. No one to control my every second of the day (Side eyes ELLIOT)

ELLIOT
The hell’s that supposed to mean.

David
(Chewing on food) Ok Donald Duck relax she’s joking. What’s your plans
with Josie this weekend?

ELLIOT
(Leaning close to JOSIE kissing her on the cheek) Well we have a lot of fun
planned for that.

JOSIE
(Shoving him off and mumbling when ELLIOT laughs) Gross. I’m going to
the bathroom.

David
(laughing) oooooooooooooohhh

ELLIOT
I’m joking c’mon- .

PHOEBE
Wait Jose I’ll come with you. (looking at ELLIOT) You asshole.
 ELLIOT shoots daggers into her as she turns to leave, not letting her leave his sight
until she walks through the door.

DAVID
Well that was fun.(looking at ELLIOT).

ELLIOT
Shut up. Your sister’s a bitch man.

David
Don’t talk about her like that man.

ELLIOT
(mumbles) Whatever.

DAVID
Anyway, As entertaining as that was… I gotta go, class is starting soon. I’ll
See you later. Come on Jill.

JILL
Finally!

David
(Laughs his way out)

Scene 2 - INT: COLLEGE HALLWAY – MIDDAY

ELLIOT is walking through the bright and echo-y hallway towards his classroom when he
runs into JOSIE and PHOEBE and another girl OLIVIA in there, all sitting at the end of an
old table. Laughing and giggling slightly before they notice him walk into the room. He is
just standing there with a glaring and dangerous look in his eye.

JOSIE
Oh El babe you’re here.

JOSIE moves up to ELLIOT and hugs him before letting go right before he tries to kiss her,
to find JOSIE turns her face and he kisses her cheek instead.

ELLIOT
What are you-

JOSIE
I’m gonna be late for class. Bye Pheebs. See ya Liv.

OLIVIA
 (Waves goodbye to JOSIE before jumping off the table)

PHOEBE
(smiling at JOSIE) Bye Josie… Hey Elliot.

ELLIOT
Uh huh. What was that about?

PHEOBE
(innocently) What was what about? Liv what?

OLIVIA
Dunno, I think he’s hallucinating. El are you on (whispers) drugs?

ELLIOT
What NO!

OLIVIA
(shrugs) Shame.

ELLIOT
Never mind then.

MR/S HARPER
Mr. McElfresh can you please take a seat, I’d like to actually start class on
time today. Thank you. Ok now... Who can tell me what we did last week.

Both PHEOBE and OLIVIA both look at each other before PHOEBE shakes her head looks
at the front of the class smiling.
ELLIOT nods and takes his seat next to PHOEBE. About halfway through the lesson he can
hear little huffs of laughter coming from PHOEBE. But when he tries to see what she’s
drawing she stops laughing and hides the paper under the her book. By the end of the lesson,
she tries to pack her things away quick to leave, not before dropping the piece of paper. It is
covered in joined initials of PHEOBE and JOSIE. ELLIOT folds the paper and put into his
pocket and follows PHEOBE out the front door.

Scene 3 - EXT. OUTSIDE COLLEGE DOORS – AFTERNOON

PHEOBE is standing outside the college waiting on her twin brother DAVID so they can get
home. She pulls out her phone and sees a brief text from him saying he is going to be late.
So she calls her friend OLIVIA to walk home with her.

OLIVIA
(over the phone) Hey Pheebs you good?

PHEOBE
 Yeah I’m good, where are you?

OLIVIA
The library.

PHEOBE
Oh ok, it’s just David is going to be out late, wondering if we should walk
back together?

OLIVIA
Yeah I don’t know, If you want to wait a wait a while then sure but-

PHEOBE
Ugh sorry El’s calling one sec- Hey Elliot, what’s up?
ELLIOT
(Over the phone) Nothing I’m alright.

SHORT PAUSE

PHEOBE
O-kay. So why did you call me?

ELLIOT
Right. David texted me, told me he’d be out late. You want me to take you
home? I can be there in a few mins.

PHOEBE
Uh yeah actually. Thanks. I’ll see you in a minute.
(Switches call back to Olivia)

Sorry, you were saying?

OLIVIA
I’m not leaving for a while yet, I’ll see you later, Kay?

PHEOBE
Ok I’ll see you later. (ends phone call)

Shows phone time 15-20mins go by and PHOEBE turns to see ELLIOT walking towards her.

ELLIOT
Hey.
PHOEBE
Took you long enough. Wait, El where’s your car? You plan on walking all
the way home?

ELLIOT
 (Chuckling slightly) Nah I parked it around the back, c’mon we’ll walk
through here to get it.

PHOEBE
Alright. Let’s go then.

ELLIOT
(gesturing) Ladies first.

PHOEBE
(rolling her eyes) Wow such a gentleman.

They walk around the corner with ELLIOT walking side by side before pulling the torn paper
from his back pocket and looking at it again, turning and holding it out for PHEOBE to see.

PHOEBE
Shit. You weren’t meant to see that El. I’m sorry, I
didn’t mean anything by it.

ELLIOT
(Taking a step towards her with an angry look on his
Face) You have a crush on Josie, MY girlfriend Josie. So,
what, you wanna steal her from me or something.

PHOEBE
(Takes small steps backwards until she hits a wall)
No Elliot, It’s just a stupid crush. Ok forget about it. It doesn’t mean anythi-

Her words are cut off when ELLIOTS hand finds its way around her neck and squeezes until
she starts struggling.

PHOEBE
(Clawing at ELLIOTS forearm) El- What. What are yo- you doing? Let go.
Ge-get of-f!!

ELLIOT
(Turns to the grass and throws PHEOBE to the ground before straddling her)
Shut.UP ! Just stop talking. I don’t want to hear you.(He backhands Pheobe) You
think you can steal Josie from me- Well think again.
You know I’ve seen the way you look at her, with that sparkle in you’re eye.
Jumping at the chance to look after her after I piss her off.

PHOEBE
(Snarky) I could treat her better than you do!

ELLIOT
You’re gonna get yourself an early funeral if you keep talking you jealous
bitch.
ELLIOT looks by PHOEBES head and sees a rock he reaches forward to grab it ignoring
PHEOBE’S pleas to stop. Until she sees what ELLIOT bring back up. A rather larger pointed
rock covered in mud and grass.

PHOEBE
(gasps and starts crying). Elliot no. I didn’t mean it, Please.

Looking up at ELLIOT who doesn’t hesitate to bring the rock down over and over
PHEOBES head, splattering himself in her blood, until he heard a familiar voice shout behind
him.

OLIVIA
ELLIOT! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! STOP IT.

OLIVIA shoves ELLIOT off PHEOBE and checks her pulse before realising she’s dead.

OLIVIA
What did you do. SHE’S NOT BREATHING DAMMIT!

ELLIOT didn’t say a word and stared blank faced at his teacher. Not blinking.

OLIVIA
I need to call the police.

ELLIOT
No your bloody not. You’re gonna help me.
Pick her up.

He help up the bloody rock and pointed at PHEOBE. As a warning to his teacher. Who
looked down at PHEOBES beaten beyond recognisable bloody face and carefully began to
pick her up. ELLIOT pulls out his phone taking a picture of the teacher now smeared with
blood. He looks down at them with a look of pride on his face.

Scene 4 – INT: DAVID AND PHEOBES HOUSE – LATE EVENING

DAVID unlocks his front door and opens it before stepping into the hallway. He throws his
bag on the floor and looks up at the time realising what time it is.

DAVID
(whispers) Shit. PHEOBE! You home yet ?

DAVID was met with silence before tracking up the stairs towards PHOEBES room planning
to knock on her door. But instead falls over a table in the hall and knocks over a lamp. He
stands up to listen to movement before sighing.

DAVID
God you’re a deep sleeper man. You could sleep through a bloody tornado.
Before continuing down the hall to his room, closing the door behind him.

Scene 5 – EXT: THE MIDDLE OF THE WOODS – LATE EVENING

The sun had gone down hours ago, leaving a dark and chilly night in its absence. In the
middle of the woods, MR/S HARPER and ELLIOT had just buried PHEOBE. ELLIOT
THROWS HIS SHOVEL AWAY.

ELLIOT
(laughing slightly out of breath) See, that wasn’t so hard now was it.

OLIVIA
(Down on her knees looking up) What the hell is wrong with you? You
KILLED Pheobe. Why?

ELLIOT
I didn’t really plan on killing her. You made me do it. Finding me attacking
her. Don’t really like the idea of being arrested for assault thanks.

OLIVIA
Oh and being a murderer is better? You just made me your accomplice in a
crime I didn’t commit!

ELLIOT begins the circle the teacher around the shallow grave, before turning to face him.
Kneeling at eye level with the elder.

ELLIOT
I have pictures of you manhandling Pheeb’s body, if you try to tattle on me,
like a child, I will show these to the authorities. If you bring me down, I’m bringing you
down with me. Understand?

OLIVIA
(nods her head)

ELLIOT
(lightly slapping the teachers face) See? Then you have nothing to worry
about.

He gets up and picks up the now muddy shovel and walks away from the deep end of the
forest, leaving a terrified teacher behind him to deal.

Scene 6 – INT: DAVID AND PHOEBES HOUSE – MORNING

DAVID was still sleeping when his alarm went off, signalling him to get up for work, with a
groan he got up and rolled off the bed, falling to the floor with a yelp.
Starts playing and dancing along to – You really got me.
DAVID attempts to make breakfast, shower and dress.

He’s ready to leave before he knocks on PHEOBE’S door to, the music going gradually
quieter to nothing.

DAVID
Pheebs you up yet? I’m heading to work now. Hellooo-
Pheobe?

DAVID slowly opens the door to look inside to find an empty room, with a bed that hadn’t
been slept in all night. He shuts the door quickly before calling PHEOBE. Her phone rings
but got sent to voicemail. He tries again and again and releases a frustrated sigh before
turning and leaving the house.

EXT: LEAVING DAVID AND PHOEBES HOUSE – MORNING

DAVID runs out the front door towards the old bus stop on the side of the road. He pulls out
his phone and dials ELLIOTS number.

JILL
(Through speaker) Whoa what’s with the wake-up call mama bird.

DAVID
Have you heard from Phoebe. She’s not answering my calls and she hasn’t
been home all night.

JILL
Wait really? No, I haven’t seen her since she left after college yesterday. I’m
sure she’s fine, maybe her phone died or something.

DAVID
Right, no you’re right. Sorry.

ELLIOT
Nah it ok, she’s you’re little sister I get it.

DAVID
Alright, let me know if you hear from her.

ELLIOT
Yeah man of course.

He catches the bus to work, sitting there to try calm himself down, to stop worrying.

Scene 7 – INT: COFFEE SHOP – MORNING

OLIVIA is sitting a small coffee shop, at the corner table with a laptop in front of them. They
received an email from ELLIOT to remind her of her act. Photos of them and PHEOBE. Then
some of just PHOEBE. She decided to send them to someone, to try put Elliot. She sends an
anonymous tip to JILL.

To: JILL FINCH

I hate to inform you on such a topic. But there’s something you need to know about. – Picture
attached.
Elliot killed Phoebe
OLIVIA
Oh shit.

They close their laptop before getting up and practically sprinted out the coffee shop.

INT: JILLS HOUSE – AFTERNOON

While JILL is in her room, doing a light cleaning trying to pack some of her clothes away
when she gets a beep from her computer on her desk. She drops her clothes to the floor and
sits at her desk and opens the email.

Jill
The hell’s this- … Oh my GOD! Pheebs. Wait Elliot did this.

JILL had enough. She got up and put on her jacket and shoes then grabbed her keys. She got
up and left her room.

Scene 8 – INT: DAVID’S WORK – MIDDAY

DAVID was almost and the end of his shift serving customers in the little Café when his
phone alerted him. It’s a text from his sister’s phone that she’s ok and will call soon. His
whole body physically relaxes at that and puts his phone away.

CO-WORKER
You seem happy, everything alright?

DAVID
Yeah I’m good, my sister just texted me, telling me she’s fine. She just forgot
to call me.

CO-WORKER
See don’t jump to conclusions, worried over nothing.

They clap DAVID over the shoulder before walking away with a huffed laugh.

Scene 9 – INT/EXT PHONECALL – AFTERNOON

As soon as he’s finished with work, he goes out back and pulls his phone out to call JILL.
 DAVID
Hey Jill, Where are you can you talk?

JILL
Yeah just waiting on a bus- what’s up

DAVID
Well I got a text earlier- are you alright you seem scared. Did something
happen?

JILL
No, no I’m ok just tired, probably why.
Uh anyway text, who text you?

DAVID
Phoebe did.

JILL

Wait what? Pheobe did. You found her?

DAVID
No just a text, why?

JILL
No reason, but I gotta go I’ll see you later. Okay? Bye!

Scene 10 – INT: JOSIE’S HOUSE – AFTERNOON

JILL very slowly walked towards JOSIES house until she was right up against the door and
knocked only to be greeted by ELLIOT himself.

ELLIOT
Oh hey Jill, How you been?

JILL
Uh is Josie in, I need to talk to her about stuff.

ELLIOT
What stuff?

JILL
General lady stuff- that doesn’t matter, is she here or isn’t she?

ELLIOT
Alright don’t get your knickers in a twist. No she isn’t. She ran to the shop
quick she shouldn’t be long, you wanna wait?
JILL
 Yeah sure.

ELLIOT steps out the way to let JILL step through the doorway into the house and closed it
behind her. They walk through the house until they make into the surprisingly messy kitchen
and sat down opposite each other at the island.

JILL
I know what you did you know.

ELLIOT
And what have I done exactly. Hm.

JILL
What you did to Phoebe. How- How could you do that to her?

ELLIOT
(leaning back in the chair) Really.

Nothing but a glare in return from JILL.

ELLIOT
(anger kicks in) How’d you find out ?!

JILL
(nodding) So it is true. I had the pictures but I thought it was a sick joke. I’m
gonna- I need to call the police.

ELLIOT
(standing up) You are NOT going to call the police!

JILL stands up from the chair and begin walking backwards towards the door holding her
hands up in front of her. ELLIOT stalks towards her in the same pace until JILLS back hits a
wall and ELLIOT blocks her in.

ELLIOT
You call the police. I’ll kill you, I swear to God.

JILL tries reaching into her pocket quick for the phone until ELLIOT puts a hand around her
throat, dropping the phone to grab onto is forearm.

JILL
(choking) Elliot stop!

ELLIOT
You asked for this. Remember that.

ELLIOT let’s go of JILL’S throat and punches her in the face a couple of times. Busting her
eye brow, a nose bleed, and a busted lip. JILL start screaming\crying and falls down to the
ground. ELLIOT grabs her and lays her down on the floor and starts to strangle JILL. But
JILL starts hitting back and scratches his face and his eye. JILL passes out and ELLIOT
thinks she’s dead. He sits back and looks at her, hissing and touches at the scratches on his
face.
He cleans himself up before cleaning the blood splatters on the floor.

Scene 8 – INT: JOSIES HOUSE – EVENING

JOSIE returns home and hangs her coat on the hook by the door, kicking off her shoes. She
starts walking through the house until she sees JILLS phone on the floor.

JOSIE
HEY EL. BABE YOU STILL HERE?
Nevermind then.

What the? JILLS phone?

JOSIE opens up JILLS phone and starts freaking out when she sees the email of the photos of
PHOEBE and ELLIOT. She almost screams until she hears and thump and a curse coming
from outside.
She goes to investigate when she sees ELLIOT standing over JILLS body.

JOSIE
(screams and runs back into the house before ELLIOT grabs her from behind)

ELLIOT
Woah why are you running. Are you ok?

JOSIE
(Shouts) After what I saw, do you think I’m ok!
LET. ME. GO.

She kicks ELLIOT in the privates and helps him let go of her to start running again. This time
locking herself in an upstairs room. She pulls her phone out and texts DAVID. He tells her to
keep him distracted until he gets there.

ELLIOT
(pounding on the door) Don’t be scared of me. I did this for us.

JOSIE
I never asked you to kill her! She was my best friend you psycho!

ELLIOT
She thought of you more than a friend. She wanted to take you away from me
Josie. I love you, please.
(starts pounding again) Now open the goddamn door!

Everything then goes silent and ELLIOT stops talking when she can hear DAVID on the
other side of the door.
 DAVID
It’s ok Josie, you can come out now.

JILL unlocks the door and opens It to see DAVID standing in front of ELLIOT facing each
other.

DAVID
Now does anyone want to tell me what’s going on?!

ELLIOT stays quiet but glares at JOSIE. DAVID sees the look and turns to look at JOSIE as
well.

JOSIE
Elliot killed Phoebe.

ELLIOT
You little-

DAVID
That’s enough, Josie. What do you mean he killed Phoebe?

Before JOSIE could answer, some one else walks though the front door like they just ran a
marathon.

OLIVIA
What she means is, Elliot here? Beat your sister to death. He killed her.
I came here to help you guys.

DAVID
How did you know what he did? Why would he cover it up and tell you?

OLIVIA
(Looking down) I helped him cover it up and dispose of her body. I’m sorry
David. I really am.

DAVID
(looking at ELLIOT) Why! Why did you kill her.

ELLIOT
She tried to take JOSIE away from me.
DAVID
What?

JOSIE
Phoebe had a crush on me. He got jealous.

OLIVIA
Wait- Where’s Jill.
 JOSIE
She’s in the garden, I don’t know if she’s dead or not.

DAVID
Go check on her.

JOSIE leaves the room to go check out JILL. Leaving all the men upstairs.

DAVID
You did this, because of some stupid crush.

ELLIOT
I had to do it. She deserved it. And so did Jill!

DAVID loses it and punches ELLIOT and tackles him to the floor. ELLIOT takes the lead
when he turns them over and starts hitting DAVID until he passed out.

MR\S HARPER
David!

ELLIOT
(Stands and faces his teacher) This is all on you! Why did you tell Jill? Huh!
Now look at what you did.

ELLIOT chases OLIVIA down the stairs into the kitchen when they start to tackle each other.
ELLIOT grabs a knife and stabs her in the side, blood starts oozing out the wounds when the
knife pulls back.
Right when JOSIE comes in hearing the commotion, She grabs a pan and hits ELLIOT on the
back of the head, knocking him out.

JOSIE
OH MY GOD! Liv are you ok!

She takes off her over shirt and places it over his stab wound to help stop the bleeding, when
DAVID graces them with his presence, wobbly on his feet until he falls to is his knees next to
the older man.

DAVID
Well that sucked. Are you ok?

JOSIE
Yeah we’re ok. So is Jill. She just passed out.

OLIVIA
Thank God. What do we do about him?

JOSIE
I Have an idea.
Scene 9 – INT: JOSIES HOUSE – LATE EVENING

The remaining three stand around a now tied-up ELLIOT, with JILL in another room.
ELLIOT slowly wakes up.

ELLIOT
(struggling) What the- Really.
Did you hit me with a frying pan? Do you think your rapunzel or something?

JOSIE
Shut up Elliot.

ELLIOT
Now I’m not allowed to talk to my girlfriend?

DAVID
If you think she’s still going to be your girlfriend after this, you got another
thing coming.

ELLIOT
Wow. You’re gonna break up with me on Valentines day? That’s harsh.

JOSIE
Hm. Well I’m done with you. Just waiting on the police to arrive, I already
have the evidence, and then I never want to see or hear from you again.

ELLIOT
Worse Valentines ever.

DAVID
Ehh Not quite. Hey Josie, Question.

JOSIE
Yeah?

DAVID
Will you be my Valentine?

ELLIOT
Like hell she will!

JOSIE
I’d love to.

DAVID has enough of his ELLIOTS screaming at him over JOSIE so he turns and tapes
ELLIOTS mouth shut.
 DAVID
There that’s better.

Scene 10 – INT: JOSIES ROOM – LATE EVENING

JOSIE
Hey Jill, You ok?

JILL
Yeah I think I’ll live. Thank you. All of you.
And I’m sorry David, about Pheebs.

DAVID
It’s ok. It’s not your fault.
Well Elliot’s gone, Police went to… dig up Phoebes’ body. Nothing else to do. I think
I’m gonna go home.

JOSIE
Can I uh, stay with you a little while, my parent’s aren’t going to be back for a
few days, they’re still on that business trip.

DAVID
(Goes to hug JOSIE) Yeah of course, how else can I take you out for our date?

JOSIE
(Laughing) That’s true.
Wait what about Jill?

JILL
I just need a ride home.

OLIVIA
I’ll walk with you.

JILL
(Nods in thanks) Ok.

DAVID
Ok then, let’s go.

Everyone is silent when they walk towards the front door, DAVIDS arm around JOSIE.
OLIVIA helping JILL walk until they leave the house and shut the door behind them.
