Planning Document

The video will focus on a series of book talks that will be presented by high school students to encourage reading.

I am on the certification track, the standard I have chosen is: AASL standard 4 Pursue personal and aesthetic growth.

The target audience will be 13-18 year old high school students with a multi-cultural background (Caucasian and African Americans). The educational level is that of high school students. The specific entry skills of the target audience are that they are able to read on a high school level. The Learning style of the target audience will be visual and auditory since the video will be presented in this manner.

Motivation:
Attention- The students will be interested in the video segments because they are seeing their peers introduce the book instead of a teacher.

Relevance-The segments will encourage students to read the book because it has been recommended by one of their peers.

Confidence- Students will feel confident that it is cool to read because their own friends are doing it and it also will show that they can do it too.

Satisfaction- The students will receive satisfaction of reading the book and increasing their own personal growth.

Objectives:

Students of Vidalia High School will be encouraged to read various books across many genres. They will read one two novels within a two month period by accessing books from the media center, local bookstores, public library and local stores.
