Week 12 Sunday 15th December Advent 3

We pray for all those affected by climate changes in Malawi. Malawi relies on rain-fed agriculture, and droughts have resulted in poor crop yields or total crop failure, leading to serious food shortages, hunger and malnutrition. Flooding has also severely disrupted food production in several districts in the country, particularly in Northern Malawi. The most vulnerable groups are rural communities; especially women, children, female-headed households, the elderly and the HIV/ AIDS infected and affected families. We give thanks for the generosity of Mothers Union members in Birmingham who sent aid to help their sisters in Northern Malawi and for Bester, Mothers Union worker, and Bishop Fanuel who are assisting homeless families there. Please also pray for the ordination of David Cheetham to the priesthood, which takes place today.
