Term Sheet Review

Summaries: One sentence does not make for a good summary. Details! I wanted an article, not a definition. Images: Describe and relate to term if unclear. Synonyms: Use your common sense.

APOSTROPHES
Possession Do we use an apostrophe? a) The dogs like to play with bones. b) The dogs bone became his favorite chew toy. c) The dogs bones are their favorite toys. a) Sentence doesnt imply possession--- no apostrophe b) One dog owns a bone--- apostrophe before s c) More than one dog owns bone--- apostrophe after s

APOSTROPHES
CONTRACTIONS Used to connect two words (theyre, were, youre, its) Contraction test: To see if a word needs an apostrophe, try splitting it into two words. Ex: Its a shame we wont be able to see the dog wag its tail. It is a shame we wont be able to see the dog wag it is tail. It is works for the first word, so it takes an apostrophe. It is does not work for the second word, so it does not take an apostrophe.

APOSTROPHES

They are wondering when they are food will arrive. 3. Were you the one who said were out of touch? We are you the one who said we are out of touch?

Stargirls Interesting Deeds

Stargirl vs. Winning

It was the strangest sight: the other team scores, the MAHS crowd sits glumly on their hands while Stargirl, alone, pops up cheering. We walked away smiling and maybe not saying but all thinking the same thing: it felt good to get credit. This year the team was winning. Only winning. And that changed everything. We fell in love with our team. When we spoke of it, we used the word we instead of they. What does Stargirl do that they like? What does she do that they dont like?
