Local Salvation Army staff offering cold weather relief


San Antonio, TX (Nov. 13, 2013) Staff from The Salvation Army San Antonio Area Command and our canteen (mobile feeding unit) will be positioned at various downtown intersections this evening to provide cold weather relief to displaced individuals. Salvation Army staff will be providing warm beverages and transportation to its shelter locations. WHEN: WHERE: WHO: WHAT: Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Area of Frio Road and Houston Street intersection (west of downtown). Other locations to follow. The Salvation Army Canteen Distribution of warm beverages, transportation to Salvation Army shelters

PHOTO/RIDE-ALONG OPPORTUNITIES: Frio Road/Houston Street intersection. Please call to coordinate other locations. The Salvation Army has opened the lobbies of the Emergency Family Shelter and the Dave Coy Center for the public to use as warming stations and will remain open 24 hours. The Goslinowski Social Services lobby will also be used as a warming station and is available to the public from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Anyone wanting to get out of the cold is welcome to come in to any of these locations: Emergency Family Shelter 515 W. Elmira Dave Coy Center 226 Nolan St. Goslinowski Social Services 910 N. Flores

For those who want to help, The Salvation Army is accepting donations of canned food, nonperishable items, and bottled water. We are not accepting clothing or household items at this time. All donations will be accepted at 521 W. Elmira. ###
