Over the past two years of my schooling, I have been a part of the Senior Choir, a choir which includes

students from years 10 to 12. Senior Choir requires strong commitment to weekly rehearsals and several performances each year, and hence addresses the learning outcome of Showing Perseverance and Commitment. Through my participation in the Senior Choir, I believe I have developed new skills in the way of my singing, as I have never been much of a singer though I have always enjoyed it greatly. Hence, through choir I feel I have developed my singing skills by undertaking this new challenge. In the past, I have often felt a little shy to sing aloud as I have never been confident with my singing ability, and hence joining the Senior choir was a challenge for me. However, after a few rehearsals it as clear to me that everyone was there to enjoy the singing rather than listen and judge others abilities and so I was able to gain confidence in my own ability and even develop my singing skills. Furthermore, in Senior Choir, we addressed the learning outcome of working collaboratively with others as group collaboration was necessary to ensure that we as a choir were achieving our best by working together in rehearsals to produce a piece in which every chorister was important. Overall, I think that participating in Senior Choir truly helped me to build my collaborative skills, overcome challenges and develop new skills, which in turn allowed me to build my own confidence.
