8th Grade American History

Dear Parents/Guardians and students:

Welcome to our classroom. I am looking forward to working with

you this year. This letter is let you know what I will expect from
my students so they can be successful in my class. Please read
over the material with your student. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact me.

Materials:
3 ring binder with dividers, 3 prong folder, and a composition
book.

Grading Policy:
Test: 20%
Projects: 25%
Quizzes: 15%
Classwork: 15%
Homework: 15%
Bellringers: 10%

Students will be given homework daily. Students will also be

assigned projects throughout each nine weeks. Students will know
ahead of time when certain assignments are due. Rubrics will be
given for each project. I will also post all dates on my blog. Please
check it on a regular basis. I often post extra credit assignments
without announcing in class.

Class Rituals:
1. Be prepared for class each day.
2. Be respectful of your classmates and teacher. Listen to what
everyone has to say.
3. Be attentive in class. No Sleeping.

Class Routines:
1. Place all gum in the trash can when entering the class.
2. Quietly enter the classroom and get out agenda and FCAT
bell ringer sheet.
 3. Write down homework in agenda and complete the bell
ringer.
4. If tardy, quietly sit down and do not disrupt the class. I will
be with you shortly to catch you up.
5. The bell does not dismiss students. Please wait for me to call
your group to line up.
6. All tests are returned promptly, reviewed and corrected in
class and then put inside the student’s portfolio for
conferences and future use.
