English III Course Syllabus
Course Description
During first semester English III we will be investigating and engaging in the theme of journeys. We
will be reading "A Long Way Gone", writing a personal narrative, reading a variety of myths and
legends, and taking part in career exploration projects. We will also be looking at variety of genes
and major literary works, including short stories from the British canon.
Course Goals
In this course we will be reading increasingly complex texts, with the first term focused primarily on
"A Long Way Gone" by Ishmael Beah, myths and legends from around the globe, and short stories
and poetry from the British canon. This course will strengthen and develop skills in reading, writing,
listening, and speaking.
Grading Policy
90-100% = A 80-89% = B
70-79%= C 60-69%= D
>60% = F
