Staff in Lake County:
Merry Christmas from Lake County Young Life! With the semester now coming to a close we as a staff have had some time to reflect on the goodness and faithfulness of God. We are all blessed to serve this community and the kids and families that live here. It seems like we just started the semester a few weeks ago but when we really sit and think there has been so much that has happened. All of our three ministries in Lake County have experienced significant growth both in the number of kids attending events as well as with the number of volunteer leaders that each team had join. One of our favorite memories from this year was Saturday flag football. Students from both LHS and VHHS played each week for about 2 months (as we had to stop due to cold weather). This was an excellent opportunity to reach more kids, as most of the students attending football werent regular attenders of club or campaigners. This trickled over to us seeing some of these kids at our clubs. Another thing that has been a blessing has been our campaigners attendance and participation. Campaigners is what we call our Tuesday night Bible study

Jonathan Goff- Area Director

Jonathan was hired in July. He graduated from Bethel University this past spring. On top of being the AD, he is also the team leader at Vernon Hills High School.

Tommy Kenney- Student Staff

Tommy is a senior at Trinity International University. This is his fourth year leading at Libertyville High School and his third year running the show at LHS. He has been an incredible asset to our area.

Tasha Taylor- Capernaum TL

Tasha started and is heading up our Capernaum ministry. She previously was the Area Director of Lake County. Now she is volunteering in her current role with Capernaum. Over the past 10 years Tasha has given so much of her time and energy to Young Life in Lake County and we couldnt be more thankful.

Capernaum Update: Just a few years ago our Capernaum ministry was just a dream. For those of you who dont know, Capernaum is Young Lifes ministry for adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. What started as a dream in Lake County has now become a reality. Capernaum club happens every 2nd and 4th Friday of every month. Weve seen wonderful growth as it has gone from just a few Capernaum folks to around 20 consistently coming to each club! In fact 8 of our Capernaum friends came to fall weekend this November in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. For some of them it was the longest time they had ever been away from their family, which is so significant in them which has proven to be a time where kids, regardless of their own faith background can freely come and ask hard questions and learn more about who Jesus is and what has done for them. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are so excited for what well be in store for us come January when we start back up. becoming their own person. For others it was just a great weekend where they could enjoy being a teenager. Not only do our Capernaum friends have an amazing time at club and camp, they, just like Young Life kids at Vernon Hills or Libertyville, get to hear about Jesus and His love for them.
