At first I initially had another topic and it was a William Giles Jones who was a judge but I couldnt get too much information on him then I could with Thurgood Marshall. Once I found out that there wasnt much information on William Giles Jones I looked for some other judges I could do my topic on and thats when I saw Thurgood Marshall. I choose Thurgood Marshall as my topic because he was the first African-American Supreme Court Justice which ties to the theme, Rights & Responsibilities. He had a lot of information on him which made him useful to use him as my topic and especially because hes so famous in history. So I choose my topic by relating it to the theme and by choosing somebody fun to do it on that also has a lot of information. The research was easy but putting it all together was the tricky part. So what I did to conduct my research was that every paragraph of my research paper was talking about one thing so that it flowed from date-to-date paragraph-to-paragraph. I looked for what was Thurgood Marshalls biggest case for my research and in this case his biggest case was Brown vs. Board of Education. The reason I selected a website as my category because for the future were going to have more technology and have to learn how to not take baby steps anymore like by using boards as a presentation. I also did a website because Ive never made a website before and its pretty fun. I put a home page title research two sub pages for research which are bibliography and process paper (which this it) a conclusion page and because the theme this year is Rights and Responsibilities a Rights page and a background information page with one subpage that is historical context. I also put pictures and other additional things on my website. My project relates to the theme Rights and Responsibilities because Thurgood Marshall helped to have rights for African-Americans to not be separated. Hes also a good topic because hes really famous in history with being the first AfricanAmerican Supreme Court Justice. He also has responsibilities as a judge. So with the theme being Rights and Responsibilities Thurgood Marshall was a great topic to choose for this year.
