The immune system is a complex network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to defend the body against bacteria, viruses, parasites, and toxins. It contains the spleen and thymus, which help produce white blood cells to fight pathogens and filter the lymph system. T cells work with protein markers to identify foreign threats and protect the body's own cells from being attacked. The skin acts as the first line of defense against diseases entering the body.
