    Provide helicopter company and pilot with details of the vessel's construction winching area, obstructions, course speed etc. Agree procedures with pilot. Hoist answering pennant masthead or where it can best be seen to indicate wind direction, at night shine a light on it. Flashing red light available to use if found necessary to cease operation.

    Fire team - stand by with portable extinguishers, etc.

    Boat team - stand by in case helicopter has to ditch.

    Note all times.

    Location of operation.

    Reason for using helicopter.

    10 Prepare deviation statement. 11 Time resumed passage 12 Enter facts in log book. 13 Notify interested parties

    To be filled in every time a helicopter needs to approach and interact with the vessel. Checklist to be kept in the relative voyage file
