Call master Radio officer to continue listening watch/relaying distress signal If assistance can be rendered then follow guidelines in I.M.O. publication:Merchant Ship Search and Resue Manual Prepare emergency boat/crew Steward to prepare for medical treatment of supervisors and provision of hot food and drinks Notify person/authority coordinating operation that the vessel is proceeding to area Prepare ladders/nets Check number in crew of distressed vessel or aircraft Check nature of cargo in distressed vessel and if oil, ascertain if sea in area is polluted or any other conditions which might hamper operations. If survivors taken on board list names and next of kin. List of missing persons. Report course deviation to managing company Prepare exact copy of radio log Enter facts in log book Notify interested parties
