Students will make inferences using a comic strip, complete pictures in comic strip, and defend their inferences with clues from the pictures and their own experiences

Materials: Garfield making inferences sheet Elmo document camera Pencils Crayons, Markers, Colored pencils Inferencing graphic organizer

Procedures: 1. Review what we discussed last class on inferences 2. Tell students that today we will be making more inferences 3. An inference has a clue from the text and their own experience to interpret something that the author doesnt directly tell you 4. Show them the comic strip and show them what they will be doing (model) 5. Students will write their clues and own experiences in the evidence boxes to show why they completed the comic the way they did 6. Have students turn it in, once they are done, to the reading bin
