Students will investigate types of resource books through guided notes and models Students will work in groups to create a poster on types of reference books

Materials: Guided notes on reference books Reference books (thesaurus, dictionary, atlas, encyclopedia) Poster board Construction Paper Smart Board Elmo Crayons, Markers, Colored pencils

We will read another Dr. Seuss book in honor of read across America After, I will ask students what a reference book is I will show an example of each reference book as we fill out the guided notes Students will create posters for types of reference books and their own definitions (Show students the model from past students work) Divide students up into 6 groups Have 1 student from each group get supplies for the poster Students will turn them in when complete We will display them around the room or in the hall
