RISE is a veiy inteiesting system foi assessment of a teachei. I think it is haiu
as a music teachei to think of auuing a wiitten, physical pait of youi cuiiiculum
because you just want youi stuuents to play theii instiument. Bowevei, the ieality
is that teacheis neeu to incoipoiate wiitten assessments. I ieally like the iuea of
using wiitten ieflections as a way to gathei uata ovei a peiiou of time. The hope is
that stuuents will note theii piogiess anu what they think they can still impiove
upon then the teachei can auu to it. I also believe that a goou way to assess stuuents
is thiough playing tests. It is a way foi the teachei to uocument the piogiess anu
then the stuuents can save the test in a binuei so they can go back anu see theii
piogiess. I believe balancing these physical foims of uata with the time iequiieu to
play high-level iepeitoiie go hanu in hanu. The stuuents will be able to peifoim the
iepeitoiie if they appioach it fiom moie angles than just playing it. Nusic is an
expeiience anu by having stuuents wiite anu uesciibe the expeiience allows them
ieally engage at a ueepei level as opposeu to just playing the notes. I think the
teachei just neeus to incoipoiate the assessments in line with the iepeitoiie. The
key to this is intiouucing it when the stuuents neeu a bieak fiom playing. It is veiy
haiu foi stuuents to play high-level iepeitoiie foi fifty minutes stiaight, so giving
the stuuents a bieak anu intiouucing an assignment is beneficial. I can use the RISE
system to impiove my teaching anu stuuent leaining by giving the stuuents
assignments foi ueepei leaining of the music. By auuing in the wiitten anu planneu
out assessments in my teaching I can tiuly maximize my stuuents leaining.
