UNIT: We Built a Zoo Lesson Plan Week 1 Wednesday WORK DAY (CCSS 7.G.A.

A.2) Learning Target: To create accurate scale drawings of enclosures for zoo animals using what I have learned about measurement thus far. Warm up Have students get into their zoo groups and write down what percent of the project they believe they have completed so far (Formative Assessment) along with what they need to work the most on to complete the project. The students will have the books Zoo Animals: Behavior, Management, and Welfare, and Handbook on Wild and Zoo Animal available to them again, but they should have all research on computers completed by now. Hand out the Measurement Data Sheet. Those groups who are finishing with their drawings should work on calculating the area of their enclosures and transferring the data neatly to this sheet. Exit Slip: What shapes make up the enclosures you have created? Are they twodimensional or three-dimensional? Do you know the names for these shapes? If so, write down as many as you know. (turn in to me Formative Assessment)
