Lesson Plan Alignment with the NETS-T and TSIPs In the above lesson plan on creating Feeling Poem podcasts, the teachers role aligns directly with various International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) NETS-T and Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel (TSIPs). For starters, teachers work to enact both the first and third ISTE NETS-T, which focus on aiding student creativity and modeling digital age work, by showing students their Feeling Poem podcast (International Society for Technology in Education, 2008). Then, teachers design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments through the use of podcasts (International Society for Technology in Education, 2008). When students publish their podcasts to the public classroom blog or wiki, this standard is taken a step further. Knowing that others in the global community can access their work and appreciate it leads students to have a greater learning experience. Furthermore, teachers roles in this lesson plan follow many TSIPs, especially A, E, and G. First, the teacher will be able to demonstrate effective use of a computer system and utilize computer software through both their exemplary and through their guidance as students work through their own recordings during the class period (Technology standards, 1998). Second, the teacher showcases their ability to identify, locate, evaluate, and use appropriate instructional hardware and software to support Virginias Standards of Learning by their knowledge of different recording software for podcasts (Technology standards, 1998). Finally, the teacher does integrate technology to meet the diverse needs of learners by using podcasts and allowing students their choice of device and recording software (Technology standards, 1998). Overall, teachers roles within the Feeling Poem podcasts lesson plan do align with the ISTE NETS-T and the TSIPs.
