The definition of criminal justice is the system of law enforcement, the bar, the judiciary, corrections, and probation that is directly involved in the apprehension, prosecution; defense, sentencing, incarceration, and supervision of those suspected of or charged with criminal offenses. All this is something that interests me greatly. Criminal Justice is just the broad study there are different branches of it. The three branches are the law enforcement, adjudication branch and the corrections branch. The law enforcement branch of the criminal justice system includes the police force that investigates crimes or the possibilities of wrong doing, and makes arrests. They are tasked with keeping the peace, maintaining social order and enforcing criminal laws. While they are not allowed to break the law themselves, they are allowed to employ various coercive and forceful tactics to accomplish their jobs. After a suspect has been arrested, they will more than likely face the next branch of criminal justice. The second branch of the criminal justice system is the adjudication branch, or the courts system. Courts in the United States are used primarily to settle disputes between parties and administer justice. They are overseen by appointed judges and staffed with court reporters, court officers and attorneys. U.S. courts are also based on their system, where two opposing parties come before the judge and presents facts, or evidence, to support their claims. Then a jury of unbiased citizens, the judge or a panel of judges will issue the verdict of guilt or innocence against the accused party. If the accused if found guilty and sentenced, they are handed over to the next branch of the criminal justice system, corrections.

The corrections branch includes jails, prisons, probation and parole. It administers and enforces the punishment against those found guilty in court. The most popular form of corrections is prison time, because it removes the criminals from society, it is viewed as retribution for their crimes and it offers them a chance at rehabilitation. Many prisons today offer schooling and vocational training to help improve the lives of criminals upon their release. Others types of punishments include fines, parole, probation, house arrest and capital punishment. Parole is typically enforced upon criminals after they are released from prison. Along with probation, parole often restricts the criminal from engaging in unlawful or potentially harmful activities, including drugs and alcohol. Since criminal justice is just a broad study there is a huge margin for salary the overall based salary could be from $18,500 to well over $150,000 a year. The work hours also vary from job to job so there is no say in what hours youll be working through this career. I think if I could make any were from $60,000-$80,000 I will be very well off living where I please. I am taking a four year degree in the study of criminal justice and that is the general need for anything through this job field. Training for the this career is all based on what branch you plan on joining. Training could be from lots of office work to get you use to the fast pace pressure or it could be from on site of a murder case to get your hands dirty and then slowly let you do more and more. More training could be from cold case files and let you see different situations. The college I plan on going to which is Defiance College takes there upper classmen to Detroit and lets them practice cold case files from inside the city. Where they do hands on training of unsolved cases.

There are many organizations organized with the criminal justice program. Some of these programs are ATF Agent, U.S. Marshal, DEA Agent, FBI Agent, Private Security Guard, Private Detective, Bailiff, Court Clerk, Probation Officer, Corrections Officer, Crime Scene Investigator, Forensic Scientist, Police Officer, Attorney and a Paralegal. These are the top professional organizations that come with criminal justice. The one program that I am very interested in is becoming a DEA Agent. This line of work is something that just catches my eye and something I could see myself doing. There are some big cities around me that would be excellent for this job field. Detroit and Chicago are two of the biggest crime cities in America so anything with criminals is great because of those two cities. The job outlook is just the same as most everything its not high but there will always be a need for justice. Getting into this job field can be difficult. But one really good way is to be top in your class in college and get an internship and have that company like you and hire you in, or just apply and put why your better to hire then everyone else. I think this job field is something I can see myself doing for years because Ive always been interested in it. This is why I plan on studying it in college because of how much it interests me. Putting in hours of hard work and dedication will get me where I want to be.
